Tricky Only Connect's missing vowels round question that totally stumped viewers
It's commonly acknowledged that Only Connect may be one of the most challenging quiz shows on television right now. The programme requires a unique kind of mental agility to be able to examine four seemingly unconnected clues and identify the obscure element that connects them all.
The questions often leave contestants, and people watching at home, scratching their heads. Sometimes they're so difficult to try and figure out, that they might as well be written in a different language. When the questions are read out, it can take a while to truly understand what is even being asked - and some are more difficult to answer than others.
We have decided to share one of the harder questions that were asked on the show - and it isn't easy. The programme often likes to reference itself, as anagrams of the Egyptian hieroglyphs used to designate the questions in rounds one and two have featured on the missing vowels round, as has the round itself.
In Series 15, Episode 5, the final round listed things that were 'Happening right now'. In the missing vowels section, people had to fill in the following with the missing letters to spell out the correct word:
C NZC R
'I don't want children staying up late at weekends - I really need adult time'TW NTYF RS TCNT RY
CL MTC HNG
MS SN GV WL SR ND
We'll give you some time here to try and answer them. We've actually given you a clue to one of the answers already, did you happen to miss it? If so, we’ll repeat it here: the show likes to reference itself and the missing vowel round has appeared in the round itself. We didn't say the clue would be easy!
If it's easier, write out the letters on a piece of paper and try placing different vowels in each section to see if you can figure out the answers. We can’t keep stalling for long, so if you’re ready, here are the answers:
Cenozoic Era
Twenty-First Century
Climate Change
Missing Vowels Round
So, how did you do? If you want to try your luck with other difficult questions, why not see if you can answer this 'impossible' Only Connect maths question? Or how about this fiendishly difficult question that's been branded a 'nightmare'?
'My hubby wants to name our baby after his mum but her beliefs are too extreme'
