Former Made in Chelsea star Lucy Watson has faced a backlash for revealing her plans to bring up her unborn child on a vegan diet.

The star, who announced the news of her first child, revealed to fans via an Instagram Q&A that she plans to raise her "miracle baby" as a vegan. Responding to a question of whether her baby would follow the same vegan diet that she does, she explained that she planned to bring up her child as a vegan too.

In another Q&A, Lucy described being met with "a backlash" after explaining her struggle with fertility as many questioned her commitment to following a vegan diet.

Speaking on social media, Lucy wrote: wrote: "I've had many people along this journey tell me you need to give up the vegan diet, it's stopping you getting pregnant. That is not the case. There are people who are crack addicts and get pregnant. Being vegan is not going to stop you."

Responding to Lucy's vegan diet plans for her unborn child, she's been met with some mum shaming comments by those that believe she shouldn't choose what her child eats and worry it could mean they end up "malnourished".

One follower questioned Lucy's decision as they wrote: "Surely the kid should get to choose?"

A second added: "No midwife will agree to this so she can plan it all she likes but it will be considered child neglect."

"This really is not a good idea... yes they can choose when they're older but as babies and toddlers they need as much of a varied diet as possible," shared a third.

A fourth warned the star to "rethink" her diet plans as they wrote: "Remember that Australian couple who went to jail cos they had their kid on a strict vegan diet and it was malnourished…? Perhaps rethink your plan Lucy Watson."

"Shame on you! Unfit mother. Let the child decide when they are old enough. Babies and children NEED proper food..not grass," said a fifth.

The comments come after Lucy announced the news of her pregnancy alongside husband James Dunmore, who she met during her time on the E4 reality show. Earlier this year, Lucy admitted she left Made in Chelsea in 2016 to save her relationship with James Speaking on the Jamie Laing's Private Parts podcast, Lucy explained: "We were arguing more during that time and I was like, 'This is going to make us argue', and then I realised you can't really be in a happy relationship on that show. At that point, I was quite serious with James, so I was like, 'Actually I value this more'."
