My Mum Your Dad star Elliott Davidson has gone back to his very normal job after finding love on the ITV dating show.

The 53-year-old appeared on the show alongside son Zachary, and the father-of-two struck up a close bond with Sharon Benson, with the couple eventually being crowned ‘winners’ alongside Roger Hawes and Janey Smith, and Paul Edwards and Natalie Russell, as they were the only couples who had found love and stayed together while in the house. Since finding fame on the dating show, Elliott has shunned fame and gone back to his normal 9-5 job, and he made the revelation during an Instagram Q&A with his son.

When asked by a fan, “What are you both doing now?”, the PE teacher replied: “Just gone back to work, so I'm doing that.” It’s not known if he teaches primary or secondary school PE lessons in Essex, but his career helped him connect with welfare officer Sharon during their time on the show. Meanwhile, Zach is back at university in London, studying in his final year. Elliott and Sharon were a huge hit with viewers, and both of their children, including Sharon’s daughter Tia, were “chuffed” they had found a strong relationship after years of heartache.

The 53-year-old from Sunderland initially struggled to let her guard down on the show, due to being hurt badly in previous relationships. But a connection with Elliott soon blossomed, and during an appearance on Loose Women, the loved-up couple said their romance was a slow burner, as Sharon wasn’t attracted to Elliott at first. “It wasn’t instant for either of us,” he confessed, leaving the panel shocked. “Not for me, no. It wasn't until we first went in and we sat down and had a conversation while we were waiting for Davina.”

Fans were delighted when the happy couple uploaded a snap from a recent date night on social media, as they celebrated their relationship with a few glasses of wine. “Our journey began….” they captioned a sweet photo of them together. Just a few hours later, Sharon posted another snap, which saw her cosying up to her new boyfriend. “Date night,” she wrote. Fans rushed to comment on the post, with one writing: “Yassssss the post we’ve all been waiting for!!!” while another added: “Awe so good to see you two together Sharon, Elliot seems like the loveliest man and you look soooo good together x.”

Host Davina McCall was overwhelmed with the positive reaction to the ITV show, and said she wanted to present the show “for the rest of my life!” Thrilled that her matchmaking skills had paid off, she told The Sun: “I love watching love blossom, and it blossomed very organically and very slowly and sweetly. I've been sent photographs of couples since! I'm not going to tell you how many. But there’s a few. The show works. I really am Cupid!” It hasn’t been confirmed if a second series is in the works, but viewers are hoping for a reunion episode.
