Courteney Cox thanked someone who isn't her significant other in her anniversary post.

The Friends actress posted a sweet tribute to her longtime partner Johnny McDaid on Instagram on Monday. The caption simply read: "10 years!!!" with a black heart emoji. But there was a surprise appearance from someone - singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran.

The video was set to Ed's song Shape of You. It started with a photo of Courteney and Ed. The words on the screen read: "10 years ago this guy introduced me to this guy," and the picture changed to one of Ed and Johnny. The rest of the video was filled with a photo slideshow of Courteney and Johnny, both silly and casually posed photos.

Also included was a video of Ed, Johnny and an unknown woman. Ed is singing the chorus of his song Shape of You but changes the words a bit. "I know your heart is falling too, Johnny is in love with your body. And last night you were in his room and now his bedsheets smell like you every day discovering something new, Johnny's beard is the shape of you," Ed sang as Johnny made faces at the camera.

"Happy anniversary J," The last on-screen text read with a red heart emoji. Courteney started dating Snow Patrol band member, Johnny, in late 2013. The two got engaged in 2014 but broke it off about a year later. The two then reconciled in 2016.

About ending the engagement, Courteney said: "He’s not my fiancé. We were engaged to be married, but now we’re just together. We broke off our engagement, and he moved to England, then we got back together, and it’s actually better than it was before.”

She also said it was an "expensive" relationship since the two fly back and forth from England to California to see each other. When Courteney appeared on the Drew Barrymore Show in March 2023, she said Johnny flew from London to see her get awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

When discussing how she deals with her long-distance love, Courteney said: "As long as you have trust, then I think it doesn't matter where you are. You can be yourself and yet be excited when you see each other."

Johnny and Ed have worked together, with Johnny writing many songs for the red-haired singer. On Ed's X album, Johnny co-wrote seven songs including Photograph. He also co-wrote Shape of You, hence why Courteney probably included it in her anniversary video. Johnny has also written for BTS, Alicia Keys, and Take That's Robbie Williams along with other artists.
