Manchester United are willing to cash-in on outcast Jadon Sancho with Roma boss Jose Mourinho interested in a move for the winger.

It comes with Sancho’s perilous situation at United showing no signs of finding a solution. Red Devils boss Erik ten Hag has banned Sancho from using the club’s facilities while the player’s teammates have attempted to persuade him to apologise to the manager.

England trio Marcus Rashford, Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw are among those who believe the winger should soften his stance and compromise. Ten Hag is believed to be keen to avoid a disillusioned player spreading negativity and causing disharmony within his squad.

Sancho took to social media to refute Ten Hag's claim he was left out of the squad for United's 3-1 defeat at Arsenal earlier this month because of poor training performances. He was subsequently banished from first-team training by Ten Hag and was dropped for United's game against Brighton.

The winger has sat out further games against Bayern Munich and Burnley, while he will also not be a part of the United squad to face Crystal Palace in the EFL Cup. Such is his situation, it is hard to believe that both the club and the player will not seek a parting of the ways in January unless a solution can be swiftly found – with Ten Hag holding out for an apology.

A report in outlet Il Romanista has suggested that the Giallorossi can provide an exit route for Sancho with Roma boss Mourinho pushing for a move. They suggest that the former United boss wants the England international ‘at all costs’ – although whether Roma can actually fund the deal remains to be seen.

The Italian capital club did finance a similar deal to sign Romelu Lukaku from Chelsea on a season-long loan deal this summer. The Belgian international had been frozen out at Stamford Bridge and the lure of Mourinho and Rome proved too great for Lukaku, with a deal struck.

Yet Roma’s finances are stretched; they once again missed out on Champions League football this term and have one of Serie A’s largest wage bills. Sancho is one of the top earners in the Premier League and it is unclear if Roma could finance the move.

United for their part would be keen to either sanction a permanent exit or, at the very least, a loan fee with Roma paying the player’s wages in full. Whether that can be a reality remains to be seen but the longer Sancho remains frozen out of Ten Hag’s squad, the more likely an exit appears to be.
