College football legend Tim Tebow praised Deion Sanders’ captivating personality and insisted it is not for show amid the Colorado Buffaloes’ showmanship.

Sanders has captivated the college football world in the 2023 season, with the Pro Football Hall of Famer guiding Colorado to a 3-0 record. Sanders’ Buffaloes are at the centre of the entire college football landscape while retaining mainstream appeal.

Many high-profile celebrities have showed up at Colorado games this season, with rapper Lil' Wayne leading the team out of the tunnel before the thrilling win over Colorado State, while Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson joined the team in the pre-game locker room. Athletes such as Kawhi Leonard and Rob Gronkowski were also in attendance.

Many are heaping praise on Sanders’ massive accomplishments with the Buffaloes, but Tebow is going further. The 2007 Heisman Trophy winner is a big fan of Sanders and his mentality, insisting he’s the same caring person whether the cameras are on him or not.

Ultimately, the former quarterback has been impressed by how Sanders loves and cares about his players like a father figure. In an interview with FOX News, Tebow said: “Well, I’ve been friends with (Deion) for quite a while now since, honestly, the end of college or early time in the NFL. He was just so encouraging, so supportive, so kind.

“Always gave me words of encouragement or words of wisdom. And, honestly, he would go out of his way to do it in a very nice way. Not just like when cameras are there doing it but behind the scenes.

“We actually got to do an event together last year, and it’s just … he loves people. He cares about people. At this event, he went out of his way for a while to answer questions, encourage people, care for people. I hope people understand that it’s not just done when the cameras are there. It’s also done behind the scenes, and he cares about people.

“He really, really genuinely cares about people, and I think that’s contagious. I think you see it in his players. I think you see it in his coaches. I think you see it in the people when they’ve been around him. They see it, and then you want to be around people like that — people that care, people with passion, people with enthusiasm for life, for their sport. That’s something that’s always been contagious to me.”

Tebow loves the unique approach to coaching, suggesting Sanders genuinely tries to turn boys into men through the medium of football. The 36-year-old claimed Sanders could go to the NFL if he desired, but knows Prime will do as he pleases, adding: “I think he could build an amazing place and do it his way. So, whatever his heart desires. But I kind of love the excitement that he’s created there.”

Sanders is considered one of the best athletes in sports history after sensationally starring in both the NFL and MLB during his playing days. He is now thriving as a college football coach; in his first full season, Sanders led HBCU outfit Jackson State to the Southwestern Athletic Conference title with an 11-2 record before securing a move to Colorado ahead of the 2023 season.

He was brought to Colorado to turn the Buffaloes around, as the team has won double-digit games just once since 2002 and its 1-11 record in 2022 was its worst since 2012. Sanders has done exactly that - and Colorado could climb into the top 15 in the next AP poll depending on other results.
