Dallas Cowboys owner watching Deion Sanders closely and drops NFL hint
Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has expressed his admiration for Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders.
Sanders is in his first season in charge of the Buffaloes and has enjoyed the perfect start. Colorado has won each of its three opening games in the college football season.
The most recent victory came against in-state school rivals Colorado State last Saturday. The win came in overtime, with quarterback Shedeur Sanders completing four touchdown passes in a 43-35 double-overtime victory.
Prior to becoming the Buffaloes head coach, Sanders was at Jackson State for two years after an NFL Hall of Fame playing career. The former cornerback won two Super Bowls as a player, including one with the Cowboys and one with the San Francisco 49ers.
During his playing career, Sanders spent five years with the Cowboys where Jones was the owner of the franchise. And now Jones has spoken about the impact that Sanders is having on the sport of football.

Jones acknowledged the ability that Sanders has as a team's leader, as well as why he thinks the Buffaloes coach would be a success in the NFL. The Cowboys owner would not go into much detail on whether he would consider looking to hire Sanders as head coach in Dallas in the future, though.
“Let me tell you something. He’s a hell of a coach, he’s a hell of a coach,” Jones told reporters on Sunday, via , when asked about Sanders’ future potential of coaching in the NFL.
“He influences people and, of course, that’s part of it in the NFL. But I don’t want to go there because you know where that starts going every which way.
“But [Deion] can influence and cause with his stature, his substance, what he is, as well as his own personality, being able to get inside and work with you on an individual basis. I’m a product of that with him.”
Sanders’ impact since becoming Buffaloes head coach has already been noticed in both the NCAA, the NFL and football as a whole. Since the 56-year-old took charge in the offseason, viewership of Colorado’s games on TV has increased.
Plus at Folsom Field, as reported by The Athletic, the Buffaloes have sold out all of their home games for the 2023 season for the first time ever. This weekend sees Sanders and the 19th-ranked Buffaloes face a formidable foe in Pac-12 division rival, the 10th-ranked Oregon, on home soil.
