Kirsty Gallacher supports Russell Brand as he denies 'serious' allegations
Kirsty Gallacher has shared her support for Russell Brand after the comedian denied 'serious' and 'criminal' allegations in a video statement.
Sharing the YouTube clip the comedian, 48, posted ahead of Channel 4's mysterious Dispatches programme tonight Kirsty, whose sister Laura is married to Russell, added a beating heart emoji to the video. The Get Him to the Greek star, who shares two children with Laura and is expecting another with the Scottish blogger, told his followers his 'transparency regarding his previous promiscuity' has been 'metastasized into something criminal' in the video – but didn't go into detail about the allegations put to him in a letter and email.
Insisting this wasn't the type of content he usually shared, Russell said: "I've received two extremely disturbing letters or a letter and an email. One from a mainstream media TV company, one from a newspaper listing a litany of extremely egregious and aggressive attacks, as well as some pretty stupid stuff like community festival should be stopped, that I shouldn't be able to attack mainstream media narratives on this channel.
"But amidst this litany of astonishing rather baroque attacks, often very serious allegations that I absolutely refute. These allegations pertain to the time when I was working in the mainstream, when I was in the newspapers all the time, when I was in the movies. And as I've written about extensively in my books, I was very, very promiscuous.
"Now, during that time of promiscuity, the relationships I had were absolutely always consensual. I was always transparent about that. Then almost too transparent, and I'm being transparent about it now as well. And to see that transparency metastasized into something criminal that I absolutely deny makes me question, is there another agenda at play?"
Kirsty Gallacher gives candid health update on tumour in ear after quitting workRussell married Laura in 2017, but they first dated in 2007 after being introduced by former Sky Sports host and model, Kirsty. Their relationship didn't last the first time around, but when the former couple bumped into each other in 2015, Laura told the Made By Mammas podcast: "I hadn't seen Russell for years. He was so different. We both immediately knew it was going to be serious."
The pair went on to welcome daughters Mabel and Peggy before Russell revealed Laura was pregnant with their third child in June. Talking to Steven Bartlett on his Diary of a CEO podcast earlier this year, the My Booky Wook star reflected on his experience with fatherhood, saying: "It's taught me there is a lot more important in this world than me."
