Meghan made Invictus 'all about her' even though it's 'Harry's baby' - expert
Meghan Markle's appearances at the Invictus Games have made it 'all about her' even though it's Prince Harry's 'baby', a royal expert has claimed.
The Duchess of Sussex has been at her husband's side since she arrived at the Games earlier this week and they have made numerous appearances together, cheering on competitors from the sidelines and mingling with their families. Harry set up the sporting tournament for sick or injured servicemen and women in 2014 and it is a passion project of the duke, who sees the Games as an important way to support the well-being of those who have served their country.
But speaking on True Royalty TV's The Royal Beat, Ingrid Seward, editor in chief at Majesty Magazine, said some may question why Meghan has been at the Games - especially as people feel it is a project of Harry's not hers. She explained: "This is Harry's baby... Why did she come at all? I wonder. I suppose she felt she should support him. And obviously he wanted her there.
"But it is very much Harry's baby. And then when she's anywhere, she seems to take over, whether she wants to or not. She just gives that feeling that it's all about Meghan."
And the Mirror's royal editor Russell Myers added: "People are drawn to the conclusion of, ‘she's making it about her’. And realistically, we haven't seen any of her over the past few months. After the podcast, it's been very, very silent. And that's a deliberate ploy, by the way... take the heat off."
Kate Middleton swears by £19.99 rosehip oil that helps 'reduce wrinkles & scars'Earlier today, Harry and Meghan looked bright-eyed and bushy-tailed at the Invictus Games - after letting their hair down at Harry's birthday celebration last night. The couple appeared fresh-faced as they arrived at the penultimate day of the Games in Dusseldorf to watch the sitting volleyball competition as Harry marks turning 39 today.
The pair walked hand-in-hand as they took their seats in the arena with Meghan donning a chic beige playsuit from Zara with a cream Celine blazer, while Harry opted for a pale blue shirt. The crowd cheered as the arena announcer revealed it was turning 39 and the crowd sang along with a chorus of Happy Birthday.
He kicked off his birthday celebrations early yesterday with a night of booze and good food at a traditional beer hall in Germany. He and Meghan took a group of their aides for dinner at Im Goldened Kessel restaurant on Thursday, tucking into plates of traditional grub - including bratwurst, red cabbage and mashed potato. They were seen laughing and joking throughout the night, with Harry drinking six beers while Meghan just had the one.
Wanting to make the night extra special, staff at the restaurant surprised the royal with a white chocolate cake ahead of his 39th birthday today. The couple also posed for photos with staff, which were quickly posted on the restaurant's social media pages.
It's been a busy few days for the couple, with the 2023 Invictus Games in full swing. Harry gave a moving speech at the opening ceremony and attended the first few days solo before Meghan flew out to join her earlier this week. They've attended a number of sporting events, including wheelchair basketball and swimming, and been special guests at a party for competitors and their families. And they've seen more loved up than ever during the trip, holding hands and sitting with their arms around each other.
Harry was even forced to put a protective arm around Meghan as the pair were mobbed by fans. It came as the couple took their seats in the arena for the seated volleyball competition at the event in Dusseldorf and fans were eager to snap selfies with them.
