The Princess of Wales has shared an adorable new video of her chatting to school children about cuddles, birthday cake, teddies and ice cream.

The sweet three-minute clip shows Kate talking to four and five-year-olds about their experiences growing up as she continues to promote her early years campaign Shaping Us.

In the charming footage, Kate can be seen greeting a group of youngsters, who are all clutching their teddies, at St John's CE Primary School in Bethnal Green, London.

The children then show Kate, dressed in a green pussy bow blouse, their toys before she tells them she hasn't brought her teddy bear, but a film for them to watch.

The group then watches the new Shaping Us claymation clip, which shows how the development of a young girl from the age of zero to five is shaped by interactions and her environment.

After watching the 90-second clip, Kate then asks the kids who is special in their lives and one little girl tells her it's her mum and dad.

When Kate asks why, she tells her: "Because they help me when I swim" before another boy chips in that he can swim by himself and adorably demonstrates his technique.

The princess says: "Sometimes it makes you feel a bit nervous, doesn't it? But the feeling afterwards is brilliant, isn't it? It makes you feel really proud of yourself."

In the next part of the video, a clip from the claymation is shown, where the character blows out candles on a birthday cake.

Kate then asks the children how old they are - and asks one little boy what type of cake he had when he was five, and he proudly tells her: "Spider-Man."

After, they then look back at the part of the film, where the little girl accidentally drops an ice cream.

So Kate asks: "Have any of you dropped an ice cream before? I have done too."

One little girl tells her: "It was my favourite ice cream chocolate but then there wasn't any chocolate left", to which Kate replies: Oh no!"

The princess then goes on to ask: "Who has been kind to you recently?"

And one little girl sweetly says: "My mum. When I hurt myself she gets a plaster and puts it on."

Kate says: "And she gives you lots of love? Who here gets lots of cuddles?" as the children nod.

One little girl then says: "I like my friend. When I cry, she gets a tissue and wipes my tears."

Kate tells her: "That is the kindest friend. We all have feelings, don't we? Good feelings and sad feelings.

"If we've got our friends around us and our family it makes us feel better, doesn't it? Does it make you feel better when you talk about your feelings?"

She then asks how the claymation film makes them feel, and one girl tells her: "It tells us about how we grow up."

And Kate adds: "It tells us about how important it is to look after you, give you love, give you kindness, so you can be the best you can be."

The adorable video then ends with Kate saying thank you and high-fiving all of the children.

Kate wants the Shaping Up project to highlight the significance of the formative years of a child’s life.

The long-term project, launched on Tuesday by the Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood, is said to be Kate’s "life's work", which she hopes will influence attitudes towards children in the early years period of their lives.

In a speech made on Monday night at Bafta’s London HQ, the princess said: "The campaign is fundamentally about shining a spotlight on the critical importance of early childhood and how it shapes the adults we become.

"During this time we lay the foundations and building blocks for life.

"And it is when we learn to understand ourselves, understand others and understand the world in which we live.

"This is why it is essential to not only understand the unique importance of our earliest years, but to know what we can all do to help raise future generations of happy, healthy adults."
