Inside Rita Ora’s bargain Primark collab - faux fur and lace bodysuits
Rita Ora has launched her first-ever high street fashion collaboration with bargain chain Primark.
The 32-year-old singer unveiled the hotly-anticipated collection on Wednesday, and revealed she would be designing “multi-season” pieces in the partnership. Speculation mounted over the For You hitmaker’s involvement with the fashion retailer after Primark blacked out the windows of most of its stores over the weekend, and the versatile fashion line has been two years in the making. Rita said she drew on inspiration from her childhood, and wanted to design sustainable pieces that could be worn throughout the seasons.
The 169-piece collection was designed by the singer and emerging London-based designer Jawara Alleyne, and features statement jewellery such as chunky gold chains, silver bangles, hoop earrings, and diamante ear cuffs. Tailored pieces, including pinstripe waistcoats, tweed-style coats, wide leg trousers and midi skirts, also feature, alongside pink faux fur coats and teddy bear jackets, as well as a faux leather shearling style jacket, priced at £38.
Rita has designed gorgeous knitwear for her versatile collection, with cosy neutral-coloured jumpers as well as fluffy cream vests, and chic cable knit pieces. The singer hasn’t stopped there, and her epic collab includes thigh-high boots, fluffy handbags, winter hats and a faux leather baseball cap, as well as mesh dresses, lace bodysuits and matching lace skirts. Her collection has been designed to mix and match pieces, and fans of the singer will be delighted at the collaboration which has been heavily influenced by Rita’s own style.
Primark said the collaboration had been designed with a “day to night” theme, with “each piece easily styled to reflect a broad range of personalities, trends and styles from casual everyday essentials to statement evening looks.” The collection will be available in Primark stores from Tuesday 19 September, and Rita is excited to have her creations finally hit the high street after a two-year wait. “Throughout my life, I have always wanted to look stylish, and when I was younger, I couldn’t have done that without Primark. I could always stretch my budget with so many great pieces from Primark,” she said in a statement.
'I swapped my make-up bag for Primark products and was blown away by the dupes'“Honestly, that is really when I learned how to get creative and play with fashion. Creating this collection with Primark has been very nostalgic for me, and I can’t wait for the world to see it!” Rita added. Standout pieces from the collection include a lace midi skirt, a black puffer jacket, and Spice Girls-inspired white knee-high platform boots, which can be teamed with Rita’s white lace slip dress and a black fluffy shrug.
The singer launched the collection in New York, alongside her husband, director Taika Waititi, who she wed in an intimate ceremony at their Los Angeles home last year. And Rita’s fans are already clamouring to get their hands on pieces from the chic collection, with one tweeting: “Rita Ora x Primark is already iconic.” While another keen fan added: “rita ora x primark collection so i guess i shop exclusively in primark now.”
