My Mum Your Dad first 'bombshell' set to join the retreat tonight

With the launch of the new episode of My Mum Your Dad last night, viewers were left in a state of excitment but things are set to get even better with the addition of a bombshell.

In tonight's episode, single mum Janey, 47 is set to join the countryside retreat in the hope of finding love – something which, by her own admission, she has waited a long time to find. On the back of her son William's nomination to join the social experiment, the mum of one – who is a recruitment manager and describes herself as "fun, kind, outgoing and creative" – is set to join the other singletons. Janey, who has focused on raising her son and building her career has said the reason she may have been unlucky in love may be due to people getting the wrong first impression of her.

The latest contestant, who is also a singer, said ahead of tonight's arrival: "I think people might get me wrong at first. I’m aware I might be judged on how outgoing I might be, and the fact my job is performing. In reality, I could be the most sensitive person there. And I’m emotional. I’m excited to meet someone that sees that side of me."

The show, which has been dubbed the "middle aged Love Island" has already garnered a huge amount of praise by viewers and part of that is down to the show's host Davina McCall. Fans took to social media last night to comment on how perfect the former Big Brother presenter is for this type of programme.

On fan wrote: "Can see why Davina worked soo well on Big Brother during its C4 years these sort of shows are just soo perfect for her." And while Davina has previously expressed her joy on returning to reality TV, Davina has recently said that this particular show has played with her emotions.

My Mum Your Dad does its best to show the highs and lows of finding love again for the second time further in life. And Davina explained she sometimes found it difficult to not get involved when weatching contestants go through a rollercoaster of emotions.

She said: "I don’t know if it’s made it to the show, but once I did actually say to the production team, ‘please, let me just go and talk to this person’ because they we're having a proper crisis. I had to go in and say, ‘we chose you because you are brilliant. Please know that’. So I did that once. But really I shouldn’t, you know, you want to go in there and get involved, but actually you’ve got to let it play out. The more you get involved, it’s a mistake. And what do I know? I don’t know these people, you’ve just got to let it play out."

Unlike Love Island, the contestants don't face the cruelty of being evicted by a public vote. They simply leave when they feel as though they're not going to find love. Davina added: "I tell you what was lovely though, people come and go, there’s no evictions. It’s not like ‘we’re going to chuck you out’ it’s more a decision of they don’t think they’re gonna find love. It’s time to leave. When you’ve exhausted everybody in the house you think ‘I don’t fancy anyone, it’s actually a hard place to be’."
