Topher Grace's wife Ashley Hinshaw has spoken out in defence of victims of sexual abuse after her husband's That 70s Show co-star Danny Masterson was handed a 30 year jail sentence following his rape conviction.

Ashley took to her social media on Friday to share a post on her Instagram story that read: “To every rape victim that is retraumatized by witnessing society debate and focus their attention on what is going to happen to the RAPIST … I see you.” While she did not mention Masterson directly the post came one day after he was found guilty of raping two women in 2003.

Topher, 45, meanwhile has remained tight-lipped on the trial in contrast to some of his co-stars who advocated for Masterson to the judge by writing letters. Fans of Topher have praised the actor for his silence.

One commented on his most recent social media post writing: “Congrats on being the one guy on the show who didn’t completely suck, in addition to being the best actor especially following the show." A second said: “Thank you for not writing a letter for danny like the rest of your cast. You’re the only one on that show that doesn’t make me sick.”

Prior to his sentencing co-stars Ashton Kutcher, Mila Kunis, Debra Jo Rupp and Kurtwood Smith all wrote letters in support of Masterson. Ashton referred to the shamed actor as a "role model," adding: “As a friend, Danny has been nothing but a positive influence on me."

Mila meanwhile called him an “amazing friend” who she regarded as an “older brother figure.” She added: “His caring nature and ability to offer guidance have been instrumental in my growth both personally and professionally.”

Masterson remained stony-faced in court on Thursday when one of his victims blasted him as “pathetic, disturbed and completely violent”. She said: “When you raped me, you stole from me. That’s what rape is, a theft of the spirit.” She went on to call him “pathetic, disturbed, and completely violent,” in her victim impact statement before adding: “The world is better off with you in prison. You relish in hurting women. It is your addiction. It is without question your favourite thing to do.

“Life is precious and fragile. Find your heart... Learn something. Read books. Listen to the brightness of nothing and get well.” Despite her obvious trauma she also told him “I forgive you.” Meanwhile, the shamed actor's wife looked on appearing totally distraught as his 30 year conviction was handed down.

Masterson's second victim expressed her regret at not coming forward sooner as she told Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Charlaine Olmedo how he "has not shown an ounce of remorse" for the pain he caused.
