Ashton Kutcher's creepy Hilary Duff comment resurfaces after Masterson vouch
A controversial video of Ashton Kutcher saying "we’re waiting for Hillary Duff and the Olsen twins to turn 18" resurfaces on Twitter after the actor vouched for his former co-star and convicted rapist Danny Masterson calling him his "role model."
In the footage, the young That '70s Show star is seen talking about the up-and-coming star Hillary Duff. Ashton said: "Hillary Duff is in Lizzie McGuire, she also has an album out, she's going to be in a movie called Cheaper By the Dozen, and she's one of the girls that we're all waiting for to turn 18 - along with the Olsen twins."
Since the footage resurfaced, fans on Twitter are reacting to the statement criticising the former Two and a Half Men star calling his comments about the young actresses "gross" and "creepy."
One user wrote: "To all the people telling on themselves, it’s not normal to express desire for a child to age quickly so you can sleep with them, plz guzzle a gallon of milk after it’s been in the sun for two weeks thank u," she added: "Predator solidarity stays strong and that was the exact point of showing this video."
Another person Tweeted: "Ugh! Who else remembers how unapologetically creepy dudes were about girls “finally turning 18!” The early 2000s were wild! (As in gross)"
Ashton Kutcher apologises to Harry Styles for 'acting a jerk' at karaoke partyAnd a third added: "I’m old enough to remember an internet countdown to the Olsen Twins’ 18 birthday. It was a gross era."
This resurfaced interview from the early 2000's has circulated on social media as Ashton and his wife Mila Kunis broke their silence following their co-star Masterson being sentenced to prison for the rape of two women. In their shared statement, the two actors apologised for giving the actor letters of support prior to his conviction.
In the original letters, Ashton referred to Danny has his "role model" and commended him for his "exceptional character." On Saturday, the famous couple rebuked their original statements and uploaded a video to Instagram to saying sorry to anyone they may have offended.
In the video, Ashton began by saying: "We are aware of the pain that has been caused by the character letters that we wrote on behalf of Danny Masterson." Mila continued: "We support all victims. We have done this historically through all our work and will continue to do so in the future."
Explaining their reasoning behind writing their letters of support, Kutcher said: "A couple of months ago Danny's family reached out to us and they asked us to write character letters to represent the person that we knew for 25 years so that the judge could take that into full consideration relative to the sentencing."
Mila insisted that the letters of support weren't meant to question the legitimacy of the court system or the validity of Masterson's ruling. Mila added that she stands with and supports "every single person who has ever been a victim of sexual assault, sexual abuse, or rape".
After days of deliberation a jury found Masterson guilty on May 31 sentencing the actor to 30 years in prison. The two sexual assault cases in question occurred in 2003 during which he was actively filming That 70's Show. Masterson was also alleged to have raped a third woman but the jury did not reach a unanimous decision on the third allegation and the charges were dismissed.
