Jorge Masvidal offers damning criticism of Jake Paul vs Nate Diaz fight

Jorge Masvidal has blasted Jake Paul and Nate Diaz for their boxing match last month, declaring he would "hurt" both men if they were to fight.

The two-time welterweight title challenger has already faced Diaz in the octagon when the pair battled for the BMF title in 2019, and has a strange love/hate friendship with Paul that goes back to 2021. But he was very unimpressed with both men's showings as they went ten rounds to a decision in Texas last month, with the YouTube star getting the win.

And he is confident that if he were ever to get in the ring with Paul or Diaz that he would land the win, although he is still locked into a contract with the UFC. Masvidal retired earlier this year at the end of a four-fight losing skid, but isn't allowed to pursue outside fights while still technically with the promotion.

“I get with the skill set, they’re not going to be boxers,” Jorge Masvidal told The MMA Hour of Jake Paul ’s win over Nate Diaz last month. “They’re not going to move like boxers, because they’re not boxers by craft either. They could’ve been meaner. That’s why, watching that fight live, I was like, I’m mean for real bro. A lot of the guys in boxing are mean for real.

“I didn’t have that feeling when I left that night. I didn’t feel like they were trying to kill each other, you know? Or hurt each other, or apply the sweet science to its highest mastery. I would hurt those dudes, bro. Like bad. I was there live, I seen it man, it’s a different speed. Nate’s seen it, you can ask Nate about the speed. If Jake was having trouble [with Nate], you know what I’d do to Jake man?”

He last month claimed it would be more competitive if he were to face both men in the same night, insisting he would first get rid of Diaz before facing Paul. This is despite the YouTube star having already knocked down a number of higher-calibre MMA fighters such as Anderson Silva and Tyron Woodley in his professional career.

"You've got to be mean, you've got to come to fight and you've got to be beating people up," he told ESPN. "I feel like in that last fight I didn't see either of those things, skill or will so if you're talking about me fighting them dudes? Line them up on the same day, give me Nate then give me Jake and maybe it might be competitive."
