Holly Willoughby's message to The Repair Shop after This Morning's NTA defeat

Holly Willoughby shared a sweet message to The Repair Shop's Jay Blades after losing out to an award at the National Television Awards on Tuesday night, before tucking into a burger on her way home from London's O2 Arena.

The This Morning host's ITV programme was also up against The Chase and Loose Women for the Daytime category but lost out to The Repair Shop - with eagle-eyed fans claiming she was close to tearing up. After the event ended, the presenter took to her Instagram page to pay tribute to Jay.

Along with a black-and-white selfie with the Repair Shop host, she wrote: "To this gorgeous man @jaybladesmbe and the whole team at the @therepairshoptv … Hugest Congratulations!!! And what a night for the incredible Sarah Lancashire… @joeldommett thank you for a great night… See you in the morning."

Fellow presenter Dermot O'Leary posted a heart emoji while Alison Hammond added heart-eye emojis to the post. In the snap, both showed off their pearly whites as they posed for the photo. Moments later, Holly returned to her Instagram page to share a snap of herself chowing down on a McDonald's Quarter Pounder with Cheese.

"Say (quarter pounder with) CHEESE," she captioned the photo of herself chomping down on the burger. After an eventful night, it's no surprise she went straight for a takeaway burger. Earlier in the night, fans claimed they noticed Holly getting emotional about losing out to an award.

The National Television Awards aired live tonight from London's O2 Arena, with Joel Dommett hosting proceedings and fans couldn't help but notice Holly looked close to tears as she and the This Morning team missed out on the NTA award for the first time in 13 years following Phillip Schofield's exit from the ITV daytime show.

Taking to Twitter, one fan wrote: "We all know Holly Willoughby is fuming #NTAs," whilst another added: "Holly looks close to tears." A third shared: "Holly looks like she’s about to burst into tears when the repair shop won the award #NTAs." Meanwhile, moments after NTAs started, viewers noticed This Morning being booed when they were given a shout-out.

Earlier this year, Phillip Schofield stepped down from the ITV daytime show after admitting to an "unwise but not illegal" affair with a younger male colleague. Holly now presents the show alone, joined by a number of other presenters on a roving rota. Piers Morgan was also booed as Joel pointed him out in the audience, with him laughing and shaking his head at the fan's reaction.

Speaking on the red carpet prior to the NTAs kicking off on Tuesday, Holly admitted the past year has been a "world she doesn't recognise" following the This Morning scandal. She told OK!: "This last year has been quite difficult at times. You know, if I'm really honest, it's been up and down. I think it's been a really difficult year for everybody but what's lovely is you find that people rally around you and, you know, the goodwill is there." Holly also explained that "people want things to move on".

Ahead of the star-studded bash, Holly posted a cryptic comment on her social media just hours after it was revealed Phillip had unfollowed her. She addressed "new beginnings" after the brutal social media snub and turned her focus to "positivity". Taking to her lifestyle brand Wylde Moon's account, she wrote: "This week’s lunar phase is the Third Quarter Moon.

"It’s known as a good time to release negativity and any old habits that might be hindering you, which sounds very fitting for the new beginnings that come with the arrival of September. Let’s make every effort to shed anything that’s holding us back and move forwards with light, love and positivity."
