Matthew Perry makes rare public appearance and switches outfits in full makeover

Matthew Perry made a rare public appearance as he took himself for a shopping spree to buy some new athletic wear at the Nike Store in Los Angeles marking the first sighting of the beloved Friends star in several months.

The iconic actor, who has become an avid tennis fan and keen pickle ball player recently, was seen alongside his assistant as they entered the athletic store together in The Grove Shopping Center. The recently-turned author was spotted in a casual outfit during the outing, initially sporting a light blue sweater, loose dark blue sweats, a backwards bright red baseball cap, and black-and-white Nike sneakers during his summer shopping trip.

During his recent outing, the former Ron Clark Story star was seen doing a quick outfit change inside the store as he emerged with a completely new outfit wearing a brand new Polo-style T-shirt and matching navy shorts. As the pair left the store his assistant was seen carrying his other new finds. Matthew was also spotted in a third outfit the same day as he sported a dark grey Nike polo paired with black knee-length shorts accessorised with small stylish shades to shield his eyes from the sun.

This is the first sighting of the actor in several months. Matthew recently celebrated his birthday last month turning 54 last month on August 19 and appears to be in better health recently has he previously recounted his journey to sobriety in his best-selling memoir "Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing."

In his famous memoir, Matthew detailed his experience on set of the hit 10 season long sitcom Friends alongside Jennifer Aniston, Courtney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, David Schwimmer, and Matt LeBlanc from 1994 to 2004. In the juicy memoir, Matthew gave fans a behind-the-scenes look at the dynamics of the cast including his secret crush on Jennifer who played Rachel Green on the hit series. The famous star also shared the intimate details of his struggle with drug and alcohol addiction during filming of the show.

During a guest appearance The Chris Evans Breakfast Show in 2016, he admitted that he couldn't remember filming "somewhere between season three and six" of Friends as he battled addictions to Vicodin, methadone, amphetamines, and alcohol. During an interview with ABC News Exclusive, Matthew he also revealed why he can't re-watch Friends now.

He told the news outlet: “I was taking 55 Vicodin a day, I weighed 128 lbs, I was on Friends getting watched by 30 million people — and that’s why I can’t watch the show, ‘cause I was brutally thin" he added: "The thing that always makes me cry...is that it’s not fair. It’s not fair that I had to go through this disease while the other five didn’t.“
