There's something just a bit special about treating yourself to a Full English breakfast on a Sunday morning after a heavy night out on the town. The mouthwatering combo of crispy bacon, runny fried eggs and juicy sausages paired with buttery toast, beans and mushrooms is enough to get even the worst hangover sufferer ready for the day ahead.

But when travelling abroad, it's no secret that some places just haven't quite yet grasped the concept of what a decent fry-up should look and taste like. Many places away from the UK tend to put their own spin on the beloved dish - and it doesn't always go down well with us Brits.

Recently, one Reddit user shared how they faced a "weird" experience while ordering a Full English breakfast in Berlin, Germany. Instead of what they expected to arrive on their plate, they were faced with a rather unexpected addition to the meal.

The breakfast arrived with its usual components, along with "spicy" sausages - and a bizarre bowl of fruit salad. The confused traveller wrote: "In Berlin they served me a Full English with spicy sausages, a fruit bowl with every fruit bar tomatoes and looked at me in shock when I asked for condiments. Weirdest experience I've had for a while. Fry ups aren't very common here by the way."

People were quick to take to the comments section to express their views on the unique take on the British classic dish, with one person writing: "I kind of like the idea of a fruit salad as a kind of dessert after eating a fry-up. Having it on the same plate is weird though."

Another Reddit user commented: "Like they pity the English heart and go 'please have the fruit'". Another claimed it wasn't actually a bad idea to include some fresh fruit on the plate, writing: "This is preferable to a Full English to this Brit – some fruit to balance all that grease."
