Man so tired of neighbour noise he shines bright light into their room all night
Moving into a new home or remodelling should be an exciting experience, with it marking a fresh start and offering a new setting for years of memories to be made. Unfortunately for some, the action brings about conflict thanks to noisy, mean, or unfriendly neighbours, meaning that the relationship is automatically strained, and can be extremely difficult to rebuild.
For one family on Reddit, their brand-new home has started a feud with their neighbours who have decided to escalate the disagreement by allegedly shining a bright light into their bedroom all night, which was keeping the family's infant children awake.
Taking to Reddit, the resident wrote: "We have been living here since 2017. It's a small beachside town north of Sydney. We've just finished a knockdown rebuild and really worked hard for this house as housing prices in Australia are insane. It's disappointing this situation has tainted the experience."
Calling his neighbours "Karens that whinge about everything", the Reddit user explained the hostility, writing: "I've paid to have fences fixed, paid to have trees removed etc. and their air con is in the exact same spot as ours on their side of the fence. He sent me a long email threatening action and (said) that he has had an independent assessor say it's illegal. I asked for the independent report and have not received anything."
With the air-con dispute going unresolved, the neighbour has taken to shining a bright light into the Reddit user's bedroom in an "insane" move. "It's almost 10pm here and I just called him asking wtf he is doing", wrote the user. "(He) said on the phone he's doing it on purpose because of the aircon issue then turned the lights off. We have infant children trying to sleep in the room."

Offering support, fellow Reddit users flooded the comments with advice for the user, writing: "Your neighbour has the emotional maturity of a potato. Keep detailed records of everything they're doing. Sounds like an air conditioner sound won't be the only thing these people whinge about. Also, when you communicate with them try and do it through text so there's evidence."
Another added: "Oh the petty wars would be on. Get a bunch of manure and spread it along your side of that fence, get a Bluetooth speaker, put it outside and crank it for your alarm in the morning. Randomly shine a laser pointer through their windows at night."
Suggesting a different approach, one wrote: "Neighbour is baiting for a reaction and this thread seems to be full of ideas for how to give it to him. Nothing will upset him more than knowing he can't get to you. Put blinds up and ignore him. Zero interaction unless he says something polite/cordial."
