Britain's Got Talent Judge Simon Cowell's son is set to audition for the talent show on the next series.

The ITV judge, 63, who is perhaps less than favourable when it comes to contestants' auditions, has said that his nine-year-old son Eric wanted to audition for his dad when the shows resume next year. Simon left the world shocked when it emerged he'd fallen head over heels in love with American businesswoman Lauren Silverman who welcomed their first child in 2014.

Since then, Eric, nine, has become a mini-me of the music mogul and has been seen hanging out with his famous dad on his various television programmes including The X Factor.

During a recent interview, he revealed: "He’s decided that he’s going to audition for Britain’s Got Talent. That is going to be total torture. I mean, of all the things I’ve ever done, this will probably be the hardest." He added: "I said because he does play drums, ‘Are you going to drum?’ and he said he wants to sing. I went, ‘Oh God no’.”

But it looks as though Eric has inherited his father's stubborn nature as Simon also admitted the schoolboy was not prepared to back down about getting up on stage at the London Palladium next year. Speaking to The Sun, the dad-of-one added: “I think he wants to be in a rock band. He loves Green Day. He is really serious about it. I always promised him, ‘No, you stay on this side of the camera darling, stop’. I don’t know what it is. Maybe because all of these kids are auditioning and now he wants to be up there with his friends.”

Simon launched BGT in 2007 and currently sits alongside Alesha Dixon, Amanda Holden and former Strictly Come Dancing judge Bruno Tonioli, who replaced comedian David Walliams earlier this year.

But it seems Eric is no stranger to the format of the show as he has previously accompanied both his mum, Lauren Silverman and Simon to filming. The star has spent years focusing on his career which also included hit shows such as X Factor but last year he made a conscious effort to take a step back from the spotlight to spend more time with his family.

He told The Sun at the time: “I wanted to spend more time with Eric — you only get this age once. Being able to pick him up from school every day, have dinner with him every night, all that kind of stuff, I’m able to do that now.” Simon also made the shocking confession that he was looking to expand his family with Lauren, 46, who he started dating in 2012.
