PGA Tour star Keegan Bradley has admitted he was left feeling "super bummed" after U.S. Ryder Cup captain Zach Johnson told him had not made the team.

Johnson confirmed his six Ryder Cup picks on Tuesday, and sadly for Bradley he was not included on the list. The 37-year-old announced himself as a strong contender to make the U.S. team that will travel to Rome next month after an impressive season on Tour.

Bradley added his name to the conversation earlier this summer after clinching the Travelers Championship in emphatic fashion, before strengthening his bid by finishing inside the top-10 of the seasonal FedEx Cup standings.

This did not prove to be enough for the six-time PGA Tour winner though, as his nine-year wait to make a Ryder Cup team goes on. Bradley opened up on his disappointment, after revealing he received the dreaded phone call from captain Johnson prior to his Tuesday announcement.

"I could tell by the response from Zach when I answered the phone that I wasn’t on the team," Bradley told Golf Channel. "I’m super bummed out. I thought I put together a really good year with two wins. … I am pulling for the U.S. team.”

One man who earned a spot at the expense of Bradley was LIV Golf star Brooks Koepka, as he joined Collin Morikawa, Jordan Spieth, Rickie Fowler, Justin Thomas and Sam Burns as one of the season captain's picks. Koepka had found himself inside the automatic qualification spots for three months thanks to his PGA Championship win in May.

The American finally slipped out of the top six earlier this month following the final week of qualification. Koepka's selection had been a heavy talking point amid his LIV Golf links, but despite his time away from the PGA Tour his major win at Oak Hill proved to be enough.

Placing his backing behind the Smash GC captain, Johnson said: "When it came to BK, his experience, his temperament, the way he goes about his work, his passion for the Ryder Cup all spoke volumes. He would say, and I'm confident in saying, he and I have been communicating a lot, I would say, over the last couple, maybe few months.

"We've had great discussions, very candid discussions. When he started to really make his way onto this team, the way I kind of see it, he basically earned his way on the team, if you're going to get down to the pennies and dollars of it. It was a pretty easy pick. Brooks is great in the team room and great inside the ropes. That goes without saying. These guys wanted him. I wanted him. A very natural fit."
