Ronda Rousey is reportedly eyeing a return to the UFC after over seven years away with her big-money WWE contract recently running out.

The UFC legend hung up her gloves quietly after being knocked out at UFC 207 by Amanda Nunes, which was her second stoppage defeat in a row after famously losing to Holy Holm at UFC 193. She has since turned to professional wrestling, where the results are pre-determined, winning a rare 'triple crown' of a Royal Rumble match and both Smackdown and Raw world titles.

Rousey is one of combat sport's biggest stars even in her retirement, starring in a number of movies and drawing massive crowds to her fights in both the UFC and WWE. She reportedly netted in the region of $2million a year during her WWE tenure from merchandise sales alone on top of a hefty seven-figure salary for her limited appearances.

"She just had a match at SummerSlam and is looking to wind down her time and commitments with the WWE," A close 'confidant' told Daily Mail of Rousey's situation. "And she is now focusing on potentially making a run to have one last fight in the UFC and compete at UFC 300 when that presents itself sometime next year."

The source also added that Rousey is "at a current crossroads in her life and career as she is looking to see what she might want to do next." She became a mother in September of 2021 with husband and former heavyweight contender Travis Browne, and could welcome another child in the future.

"She really wants to do it all," the friend added, after also noting that she could return to reality TV show 'Stars on Mars'. "But in the next few months don't be caught off guard that she is having another kid because that is something she feels is one of the most important things to happen for her again."

Rousey is one of the most important figures in the history of women's sport, particularly MMA. After UFC president Dana White infamously claimed women would never be allowed into the promotion, she proved him wrong when she faced Liz Carmouche at UFC 157 in a groundbreaking moment for the sport.

Prior to the Holm loss, Rousey was undefeated in the cage and had developed a superstar aura likened only to Conor McGregor and Mike Tyson. There were arguments that she could beat a male champion in the cage and she landed roles in a number of high-profile films including Entourage and Charlie's Angels.
