Conor McGregor has been branded a "hothead" by Michael Bisping after he sent a death threat to UFC heavyweight Tom Aspinall.

The UFC superstar recently announced that he will return to action and has flown out to Las Vegas to begin filming for his appearance on The Ultimate Fighter series against Michael Chandler. McGregor has not been quiet on social media despite having been absent from the octagon since July 2021 when he broke his leg in a defeat to Dustin Poirier.

British star Aspinall was vocal regarding McGregor's comeback fight, suggesting he was much more excited for other events including UFC London later this year. The Irishman did not take kindly to his comments and made a violent threat on Twitter, which read: "Bum p***k. Say sayonara to that GK [Gym King] deal kid.

"Starve you and kill you, I will you f***ing disrespectful p***k. Don't ever speak my name in disrespect again. Mush potato head. Mush head rat keep your comments to yourself." UFC legend Bisping has since responded to the comments, claiming that McGregor is currently suffering a fall from grace which has coincided with his form inside the octagon.

“Serious, serious words," Bisping said during a video on his YouTube channel when assessing McGregor's recent Twitter crusade. "Not the most damaging insult, but he did threaten to kill him. (He) threatened to starve him and to kill him. Looks like Tom’s losing out on the GK deal guys.

"And he has to never, ever, ever mention Conor McGregor’s name again. Now look, listen, McGregor’s a hothead. We’re all kind of hotheads. Saying that, Tom isn’t. Tom’s the most level-headed, calmest human being you’ll ever meet. But Conor is definitely biting off more than he can chew here, no disrespect.

"He’s got his hands full with Michael Chandler. He has his hands full with the lightweight division. Picking off a six foot five heavyweight? Not the best thing to do. But we know what Conor’s like. He’ll talk a bit of crap, he’ll tweet-and-delete.”

Aspinall brushed off the comments quickly on his own social media page, jokingly posting his own contact profile on his phone while altering the name to 'Mush head'. McGregor is currently in Las Vegas filming for his second stint as a coach, but has yet to confirm an official date for his comeback fight with Chandler.

It is expected that the fight will take place at 170lb given McGregor's new bulky physique, which could see the 34-year-old trying to blaze a trail to become a three-weight champion. It remains unclear if he will be granted a title shot with a win over Chandler, but current champion Leon Edwards has suggested he is open to a showdown.
