Manchester United have spent almost £200m this summer as Erik ten Hag looks to strengthen his squad.

Midfielder Mason Mount has joined from Chelsea for an initial £55m, while it took £72m to sign striker Rasmus Hojlund from Atalanta and a further £47m for Inter Milan to let goalkeeper Andre Onana leave. There have also been several outgoings, with the likes of David de Gea, Fred, Alex Telles and Anthon Elanga all leaving Old Trafford.

However, Ten Hag is keen to bring in more reinforcements after United's poor start to the season, which saw them controversially beat Wolves 1-0 before slumping to a dismal 2-0 loss against Tottenham. Here's a round-up of the latest transfer news from Old Trafford.

No new striker

Ten Hag has insisted United do not need to sign another striker before the transfer window shuts, with the Dutchman backing Marcus Rashford and new signing Hojlund to deliver goals.

United's only goal so far this season has come from centre-back Raphael Varane and there are concerns over Hojlund's fitness, with the 20-year-old arriving at Old Trafford with a back injury. However, when asked if he believes United need to strengthen up front, Ten Hag replied: "No. We have seven front players and young talent coming up, as we've seen in pre-season, who are getting close [to the first team].

"Rasmus will be available from next week onwards. With Rasmus and Martial, we have cover. We have Rashford as well there. We have enough quality players to cover that position."

Bertrand eyed as cover

According to the Express, United are considering a move for free agent Ryan Bertrand as a short-term option at left-back.

Both Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia are currently sidelined with injuries, while Brandon Williams has joined Championship side Ipswich on loan. As a result, United have made contact with Bertrand over a surprise move to Old Trafford.

The 34-year-old has been a free agent since leaving Leicester City last month and he has been training with Chelsea's loan development group to get back to full fitness, having missed the entirety of last season with a serious knee injury.

Fiorentina chief offers Amrabat update

Fiorentina chief Giuseppe Barone says the club are willing to let Manchester United target Sofyan Amrabat leave before the transfer window closes next week.

United have been courting Amrabat all summer, with Ten Hag keen to be reunited with a player he worked with at Utrecht. And with time running out for the Red Devils to complete a deal, Barrone says Fiorentina are willing to sell Amrabat if their reported £21m asking price is met.

"Sofyan's not working with the squad — but we have still not received any bid for Amrabat this summer," Barone told Sky Sports. "If there are players who are unhappy here, we can start considering bids for them of course."
