Famous faces brutally killed in Midsomer Murders as Holly Willoughby makes cameo
Holly Willoughby's on Midsomer Murders cameo is set to finally air on TV, two years after the star filmed the scenes as she played a version of herself.
This Morning star Holly is set to star as 'the queen of daytime' after filming the episode back in 2021. In a clip shown on Good Morning Britain, Holly can be seen sitting on a throne while seeming being interviewed. "Is that the queen of daytime," one detective asks as he spots Holly's character, with his older colleague replying: "Gloria Hunniford? Are you sure?"
Neil Dudgeon, who plays DCI John Barnaby in the ITV drama series, teased viewers and told Kate Garraway and Richard Madeley: "Well, she's sort of a friend of the show I suppose - she's a great fan of the show and we're always looking to broaden our casting net." Holly is not the only famous face to rock up in the seemingly picture postcard perfect Midsomer.
But not is all as it seems, as the total number of killings in Midsomer County has hit 347. It is not just the number of murders but the manner of the deaths which the series’ millions of fans find so grimly fascinating. Victims have been dispatched by poisonous frog, a French guillotine and even a slide projector. Mix such bizarre deaths with blackmail, greed and betrayal behind the well-trimmed hedges and you have television gold.
Actors and celebs, like viewers, have also been drawn to the dangers of Midsomer. Oscar-winner Olivia Colman made an appearance back in 2009. During her episode a man is killed in a model village and tied down like Gulliver from the book Gulliver’s Travels. In 2000, Orlando Bloom played a womanising thief killed with a pitchfork. While Gavin & Stacey star Ruth Jones and ex-EastEnder Martine McCutcheon have also appeared in episodes.
Corrie's Sue Cleaver says I'm A Celebrity stint helped her to push boundariesOther famous faces in Midsomer were The Wire star Clarke Peters, Olympic rowing champ Sir Steve Redgrave, former Doctor Who Peter Capaldi and comedian Les Dennis. Each episode of Midsomer takes five weeks to film and its celebrity fans are believed to include former Prime Minister David Cameron and A-listers Sharon Stone, Joan Collins and Johnny Depp.
Holly described her first stint on Midsomer Murders as one of the best days of her life back in 2021, with the star's friends and family rushing to praise her once the episode aired. "Everybody I know who has watched all of Midsomer says it’s one of their favourites we’ve ever made," Holly said at the time. "I said to them 'Thanks for having me, it was one of the best days of my life'." Midsomer actor Neil added: "She was great, she was thoroughly professional. I think she was a bit nervous when she first arrived. She’s playing a character called Holly Willoughby, I wouldn’t like to say that it’s herself."
