Manchester United made an unconvincing start to their campaign by beating Wolves 1-0 at Old Trafford last Monday night.

Raphael Varane's second-half goal secured the Premier League points for Erik ten Hag's side, but they were lucky not to concede a last-minute penalty when Andre Onana clattered into striker Sasa Kalajdsic and the referee refused to give a penalty.

Although Onana's mistake went unpunished, it left United fans slightly concerned about their new goalkeeper. Onana is one of three major signings made by the Red Devils this summer, with Mason Mount and Rasmus Hojlund also moving to Manchester.

But who else could join United before the end of August? Here are the latest transfer rumours from Old Trafford...

Lukaku returning to Old Trafford?

United have been urged to re-sign Romelu Lukaku on loan from Chelsea by Dwight Yorke. The Belgian, 30, is searching for a new club after being frozen out by the Blues. He failed to make the matchday squad for their Premier League game against Liverpool.

Lukaku, who cost Chelsea £97.5million just two years ago, spent two seasons at Old Trafford earlier in his career. The prolific striker did OK under Jose Mourinho and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, scoring 28 goals in 66 Premier League games before moving to Inter Milan.

"Romelu Lukaku is absolutely still good enough to play for a top-six club," Yorke told OLBG. "I think Man Utd or Tottenham should take Lukaku on a short-term loan deal and agree to pay a certain amount of his wages. As much as people say about Lukaku, he has a very impressive goal-scoring record and he doesn't get as much credit as he deserves.

Who do you think Manchester United should sign? Let us know in the comments below!

"If you have a fired-up Lukaku who wants to play for you, he's a match-winner and a handful for any opponent in the world. Man Utd have invested heavily in Rasmus Hojlund, but if you want to compete with the best then Lukaku is that player who can score 15 to 20 goals in a season, which is priceless and hard to find in today's game.

"Lukaku is still only 30 years old and a proven goalscorer, I think whoever gets him on a short loan deal will have done good and subtle business."

Bayern cool De Gea interest

Bayern Munich have decided against signing David de Gea, according to Sky in Germany. The Spain international, 32, is still a free agent after leaving United earlier this summer.

Bayern were considering giving De Gea a contract after holding talks. It's believed the goalkeeper was willing to sign a deal, but manager Thomas Tuchel vetoed the transfer. It remains unclear where De Gea's future lies after his 12-year spell at Old Trafford.

Gravenberch battle with Liverpool

Both United and Liverpool are interested in signing Ryan Gravenberch... and the Bayern midfielder would prefer a move to Old Trafford. That's according to Foot Mercato, who claim the two great rivals may battle for the 21-year-old.

Gravenberch has fallen down the pecking order at Bayern and knows Ten Hag well after working with the United boss at Ajax. Liverpool are on the hunt for a new midfielder after losing a number of stars this summer, including Jordan Henderson and Fabinho. United will need to get some players off their books before making a move for Gravenberch.
