Emmerdale fans will be left emotional on Thursday as Dan Spencer says his goodbyes to the village ahead of his prison sentencing. Fans will recall that Dan punched his daughter Amelia's online stalker, Lloyd, which resulted in the latter being left in a coma in a hospital with a serious head injury. Dan later pleaded guilty to the charges against him without realising Lloyd had been pronounced dead in hospital. Dan is now facing a serious prison sentence for manslaughter.

On Thursday's episode, things get emotional and real when Dan leaves the Woolpack for the very last time. Saying his sad goodbyes to the village, Dan makes his final journey. Later, Dan arrives in court and his solicitor reiterates he should receive a short sentence. Dan tries to brace himself for the outcome but fears the worse as the reality of killing someone hangs over him.

Teasing the upcoming scenes and his character's prison sentence, Dan star Liam Fox told press recently, including Mirror: "He's scared about how long he's going to get. I think he's presuming he's going to get three years or something like that.

"He's got it in his head, you know, after 18 months he might be out and everything. But even so, can he cope with 18 months? Is that something Dan can get his head around? Whatever Dan does, when he comes out, if he comes out, he's going to be a different man. Somebody like Dan will not benefit from prison."

Elsewhere, Liam, who has been on the ITV soap since 2011, said of the scripts for his character's "last few days in the village": "When I read the scripts, it was like: 'Wow, this is awesome.' He's kind of taking it all in and realising that he's going and getting support from other people in the village.

"There's some lovely stuff. Before he goes, he goes into the Woolpack and Man Club are there and really supporting him. It's really well written, really nice stuff. It made me cry a few times reading it, so yeah, very emotional, lovely stuff. I feel very lucky to get that sort of script around the story."
