Vanessa Feltz says she's 'thin and miserable' after going on heartbreak diet
Vanessa Feltz may be looking incredible but she says she'd rather be curvier and happier rather than on her "heartbreak diet".
The TV favourite is still recovering from the breakdown of her relationship with Ben Ofoedu. The devastated broadcaster split from her fiancé in February after he admitted being unfaithful and sexting a second woman. The 61-year-old has lost two stone since she made the decision to end things when the revelations brought to an end their 18-year-long romance. She may look fantastic, but the star says she'd rather weigh more and happy.
Vanessa spoke to OK! magazine ahead of her stint on Celebs Go Dating, which hits TV screens next week. She will lay it on the line in front of the love experts and just wishes she didn't have a reason to go on the E4 show.
She of her new look: "That’s the 'broken heart' diet, unfortunately, and I do not recommend it to anybody. I’d much rather be fatter and happier than thinner and miserable.
"People might say 'well done' on my weight loss but I just felt so sick in my heart that I didn’t want to eat anything. For me, that’s bloody unusual. I’d normally be reaching for an éclair. It’s not something I’d wish upon anyone."
Phillip Schofield mocks Molly-Mae's baby name in cruel swipe at Love Island starShe recently told Closer Magazine that she has been too devastated to eat, six months on from the collapse of her relationship. She said: "I think I've lost about two stone, I'm not sure. I haven't weighed myself, but [I've lost] quite a lot. I tried on some dresses the other day in a size 12, and they were much too big.
"Although it could have been just those dresses, so I'm not saying I'm a size 10 – I'm not saying anything about my size but I have lost weight."
Going into more detail, Vanessa explained further: "I've been too heartbroken to eat anything, and I don't think that's a very nice diet. I've been on it before and it's horrible. I wouldn't wish it on anyone. I'm sure I'll get my appetite back when I go back to being OK."
Back in February, and emotional Vanessa revealed that her years long engagement was off and her relationship with Ben was over. The pair had been together since 2005 and engaged since 2006, and the TV star explained that she was left devastated by suspicions he had cheated on her.
Vanessa said at the time: "I had thought it might take a bit longer before this came out, because it’s a lot to deal with — a shock like this takes some adjusting to — but I am extremely sad and disappointed that my relationship with Ben is over."
She continued: "Who knew I’d be single at 60? However, ladies, it’s onwards and upwards and I firmly believe that the best is yet to come. I hear that Kylie Minogue is single again, so I’m in good company — if she wants to hit the town, hook me up."
Since then, Vanessa has revealed she has been bombarded by randy admirers who have sent her raunchy messages via social media. However, she has confirmed she wouldn’t date someone who ‘slid into her DMs’.
