Love Island star hints she's 'in talks for Strictly' as Zara McDermott signs up

Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu has teased she is in talks to appear on this year's Strictly Come Dancing - following in another Love Islander's footsteps.

The winner of the summer 2022 series, 28, claims she is set to take part in yet another reality TV show. It comes after Ekin-Su took part in the latest season of Dancing On Ice where her performance was branded the contest’s “sexiest dance ever” by host Holly Willoughby. The reality TV star faced a wave of negativity from online trolls who branded her outfit too sexy for the family show.

It caught Ekin-Su off-guard and caused tears but she has appeared to put it all behind her as she sets her sights for Strictly. During a radio appearance on Tuesday, Ekin-Su teased her next career move. "I would love to do Strictly. Actually, maybe something might come up this year… I can't say. We are in talks for something, possibly. Keep your eyes peeled.

"But yeah, I'm very excited, can't say but yeah why wouldn't you see me on there?," she said on 98FM's Big Breakfast with Rebecca and Brendan. Former Islander Zara McDermott has already been announced as a contestant in this year's series, making Strictly history as the first-ever Love Island contestant to be signed up.

Her stint on the popular BBC show was announced Monday afternoon on BBC Radio 1. Speaking to hosts Vick Hope and Jamie Laing, Zara revealed she was "scared" but "excited" to take on something "so far out of her comfort zone". She said: "I've been rewatching last year's in detail, analysing everything, every dance.

"I'm scared, scared but excited. There is gonna be challenges with everything. I'm excited for the slower stuff. It's such a far cry from my day job… this is live, you cannot make a mistake. You get one take and one takes only. This is so far out of my comfort zone." Ekin-Su will be hoping to impress the Strictly judges after she exited Dancing On Ice just a few weeks in. Her sequined catsuit and raunchy dance in the first week – including a crawl across the ice - sparked protest and TV regulator Ofcom got more than 100 complaints.

Ekin-Su had admitted she was determined to "fight", but confessed the backlash did leave her in tears. "I’m not going to just back off any more, I’m going to be confident again. I’m going to fight. I’m here, I’m ready. I’m going to shine and I’m going to be me again," she said, "I was very upset. Instead of people backing me up and saying, ‘Look, she’s doing her best. Look at her, look at her confidence’, I had negative feedback. I was crying a lot. I went home, I cried in Davide’s arms.

"I looked in the mirror and I went, ‘What is wrong with me? What have I done wrong? Why are people being like this?’ It’s something new for me. In Love Island, people criticised me at the start but we had no phones. I had no idea what was happening outside. Now, I can actually read it. I see it, it’s in my face. Someone sends me a DM, a tweet, and I see it. It’s everywhere and it was a lot to take."
