Emmerdale will air some dramatic scenes next week as one character suffers a heart attack and is rushed to hospital.

Things have been tricky on the ITV soap recently, especially for Bob, who was horrified to find out his partner Wendy was having an affair. She had been sneaking around with her colleague Liam, but the truth was finally unveiled when Bernice rumbled their secret.

Next week in the Dales, Bob is still struggling with what Wendy has done to him. She decides she needs to leave her job, and heads to Liam's house to hand in her resignation. He understands why she needs to do it and her focus turns to repairing things with Bob.

Bob suffers a heart attack

However, Bob gets the wrong end of the stick when he sees the pair leaving the cottage together. Horrified, he sees red and punches Liam in the face. The villagers try to calm him down, but he throws the football at Liam.

Things soon take a horrifying turn when Bob suffers a heart attack. An ambulance is called, and soon Wendy and Liam are left feeling terrible. Wendy heads to the hospital, but it's not until the next day when Bob starts to stir.

Bob gets emotional as he recounts those moments, whilst Bernice urges Brenda not to blame Wendy for what happened. Liam heads to the hospital to apologise for the affair but will Bob forgive him, and is everything he's saying the truth?

Tony Audenshaw - who plays Bob - admits he was surprised by the affair storyline.

He told Digital Spy: "It's interesting with this relationship – it's the first time you've seen a woman cheat on Bob. It's mainly been the other way around over the years. So it's going to be interesting to see how it's going to impact him. Working with Cooky [Susan Cookson, who plays Wendy] has been absolutely brilliant, I've got to say. It's been joyful. So to hear that [Wendy] was going to be unfaithful, it was a bit of a shock when we'd only just got together!"
