Conor McGregor criticises 'embarrassing' Jake Paul vs Nate Diaz fight

UFC legend Conor McGregor shared his thoughts on Jake Paul vs Nate Diaz in a series of now-deleted tweets.

Paul and Diaz went the distance in their 10-round fight at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas on Saturday night, with the YouTube boxer getting the nod by unanimous decision. The fight was mostly one-sided as Paul came firing out of the blocks before eventually dropping Diaz in the fifth round, with the scores reading 97-92, 98-91 and 98-91 in Paul's favour after the final bell.

McGregor refused to acknowledge Paul or Diaz and was seemingly more interested in ring girl card Saweetie than the action inside the ring. The former two-weight champion went on to criticise both Paul and Diaz's performances, writing of his former opponent: “People's champ I gonna say this now, them antics when it's time to move ain’t hitting for me no more. I’ve seen him point, I’ve seen him turn/walk away etc etc. it’s stale now."

"F****ng do something because you’re doing nothing! Could’ve been the 170lb UFC champion. Wasted it. Ur doing f**k all.” "I gonna serve up your liver on a sandwich in the trilogy m8. Out straight. I won’t even hit your face. That was abysmal last night."

McGregor then turned his attention to Paul by writing: "Paul is a r****d. Absolute garbage he is. Moving backwards like I was watching a fight in rewind. Holy garbage. Embarrassing stuff all round IMO." Paul quickly hit back at the Irishman by citing some of his past defeats, writing: "Floyd [Mayweather] toyed with you. Dustin [Poirier] chinned you up. Khabib [Nurmagomedov] and Nate choked you out and I would put you in the coffin for good."

Paul has been pushing for a fight against McGregor for years but dismissed the crossover bout after beating Diaz, insisting his end goal in boxing is undisputed super-middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez. McGregor wants to win the UFC's 'BMF' title by beating Justin Gaethje so the symbolic belt can be on the line for a potential trilogy fight between him and Diaz.

McGregor has previously given little attention to any of Paul's past jibes and he was forced to eat his words after backing Diaz to beat the YouTuber. “I fancy him [Diaz] for it, to be honest. The man’s a bit windy. The other cat’s a bit windy. He’s a donkey. The guy’s a donkey, but the donkey has a kick as well. So you just got to be worried about that," McGregor told Matchroom Boxing before the fight.
