Sugarpop star Vanessa Blanca dies after suffering fatal head injury in bathroom accident
Pop singer Vanessa Blanca has died aged 30 following a freak accident in a bathroom.
The Filipino star, whose unmarried name was Vanessa Rangadhol, found fame as a member of GMA’s musical group Sugarpop before pursuing a solo career, died on Wednesday, August 19, after suffering a severe head injury in an accidental fall.
Her cousin Ivy Ann Salaum Jubelag confirmed the devastating news on Facebook, revealing Vanessa had been staying at a condominium in Manila when the tragedy occurred.
In an emotional statement, she wrote: ‘It is with the heaviest heart that I share the heartbreaking news of the passing of my beloved first cousin and little sister, Vanessa Blanca Quillo Rangadhol, who tragically passed away today, August 19, 2026, following an accident at the condominium where she was staying in Manila.
‘At this painful time, we humbly ask everyone to please give her immediate family, especially her mother and loved ones, the time, space, and privacy they need to mourn and grieve.’
Further details surrounding the accident were later shared by Ivy in a separate statement.

She explained that Vanessa had been getting dressed in the bathroom when she ‘tripped and fell’, striking her head.
‘Vanessa sustained severe traumatic brain injury resulting in an internal brain hemorrhage following an accidental fall,’ the statement read.
‘Despite the efforts made to secure urgent medical assistance and bring her to the hospital, Vanessa sadly passed away.’
Emergency services were reportedly called following the accident, but after they had not arrived within 15 minutes, the singer’s companions decided to take her to hospital themselves.

Vanessa was transported from the condominium in a wheelchair before being rushed for medical treatment, but despite efforts to save her, she died from her injuries.
Tributes have since flooded social media for the singer, whose entertainment career began when she appeared on the Filipino talent show Popstar Kids.
She went on to become part of Sugarpop alongside fellow young performers including Julie Anne San Jose, Rita Daniela, Enzo Almario and Cholo Bismonte.
Vanessa later established herself as a solo artist and became particularly known for her track Dota o Ako.
