Arsenal's win in the Community Shield is the best possible way for Mikel Arteta's men to kick off the season.

But while the Gunners have already invested heavily in fresh recruits to their squad this summer, Arteta is keen to add more players to his team. Top of his list of targets as it stands is David Raya, despite Aaron Ramsdale's match-winning performance against Manchester City.

Arteta is continuing to pursue a move for the Brentford keeper, with current back-up Matt Turner set to be sold after just once season at the Emirates Stadium. Here, Mirror Football rounds up the latest Arsenal transfer news.

Raya pursuit backed

Former Arsenal star Kieran Gibbs has backed Arsenal's pursuit of Brentford star David Raya. Gibbs believes that Raya would bring different qualities to the squad than Ramsdale does, which could help the Gunners in the Champions League.

“I am not surprised by Arsenal moving in for David Raya. They are going to be competing on all fronts next season. You need two proper goalkeepers; it is as simple as that. I think he brings something a little different to Aaron," Gibbs told ESPN.

"When you are in European football, it is really good to have a goalkeeper who is really good with his feet. [I’m] not saying Aaron is not it, but I think that is one of David’s specialties. I think having those two goalkeepers would please Mikel a lot.”

Brighton head coach Roberto De Zerbi has hinted that his side's pursuit of Arsenal target Mohamed Kudus could last for the rest of the summer. Kudus has been eyed by the Gunners for much of the window after impressig for Ajax.

But Brighton appear to have swooped in ahead of the title challengers to complete their own deal for the Ghanian international. While Kudus appears to be heading to the south coast, De Zerbi has insisted the deal is not done yet.

“I don’t know the situation with that deal… we have a lot of strikers," De Zerbi said in a press conference. "We will see at the end of the window."

Balogun race heats up

The race to sign Folarin Balogun is heating up, with Lens now joining Inter Milan in the the battle for the Arsenal star. Balogun impressed on loan for Reims last season, but Gunners boss Arteta will not be handing him increased game-time.

That has led to the striker pishing for a permanent move away from the Emirates this summer. Inter had emerged as the frontrunners for the United States international, but according to TF1, they are facing competition from Lens.

The Ligue 1 side are searching for a replacement for Lois Openda, who has joined RB Leipzig. Balogun is their top target to take Openda's place, though the French side are said to consider Arsenal's £43m valuation as 'excessive'.
