A woman has shared the three things those moving into council house properties should prepare for, advising others to take note. MK, who lives in the UK, has worked hard to give her council flat a "glow up", documenting her progress with her 11.2k TikTok followers.

Although her home now looks very stylish, with MK having a knack for being "boujee on a budget", there were some things she had no clue about whatsoever before transforming her property into a home she's proud of. According to MK, there are three things, in particular, those who manage to get a council house should bear in mind before moving in day.

In a TikTok video that has clocked up 130.7k and counting, MK warned: "You get your house completely empty. You have to make it liveable." Offering her second piece of advice, MK, who goes by the username @mkrispy, added: "Flooring is expensive. Save as much as you can if you can while you're waiting."

For her third and final nugget of wisdom, MK, who admits she didn't know too much about DIY before embarking on her project, advised: "Learn how to do small jobs yourself. That'll save time and money."

In the comments section, MK went on to reveal that it had taken her two months to get the property in a liveable state, with some help from her "amazing" family and friends. She emphasised that this time period may well vary depending on a person's individual financial circumstances.

The helpful clip has attracted a number of approving comments, with many people about to embark on the same journey thanking MK for sharing her top tips. Others were amazed by how she'd managed to get her home looking beautiful on a budget, and felt inspired to follow suit.

One person who could relate to the process only too well commented: "100 per cent wish I knew how expensive flooring is. Lucky I was able to lay the flooring myself." Another applauded: "Waiting for mine and I just love your account, thanks."

A third person remarked: "I can't believe the number of people that expect carpets and white goods to be part of the house. It's like renting any house." A fourth chuckled: "Before moving into mine I have never picked up a paintbrush before or wallpapered. Now I'm painting every other week."
