Manchester United target Sofyan Amrabat has already packed his bags ahead of a potential move to Old Trafford.

Amrabat shot to recognition at the World Cup, where he helped to power Morocco to the semi-finals, the first African team in history to reach that stage of the tournament. His performances attracted the eye of United, with boss Erik ten Hag keen to upgrade his midfield options.

The Dutchman opted to prioritise other targets first this summer. Midfielder Mason Mount and goalkeeper Andre Onana have already arrived, while striker Rasmus Hojlund will complete his move from Atalanta in the coming days.

Once Hojlund's arrival is confirmed, Ten Hag is set to turn his attention back onto Amrabat, having first explored a move in January. It appears the Moroccan is also keen to secure a move to United.

According to Tuttosport, Amrabat has already 'packed his suitcase' in order to travel to the Red Devils' Carrington training ground as soon as an agreement is reached over a fee between the clubs.

Fiorentina have previously been reluctant to part ways with their star midfielder but would accept a bid of £26m. United are understood to have submitted a £21.5m offer last week, though have more work to do to find a compromise with the Serie A side.

Amrabat is confident such a compromise can be found though and is preparing to move to the Premier League giants. He enjoyed an impressive season last term, marking himself out as one of the players of the tournament at the World Cup.

He also starred at club level, helping Fiorentina to reach the final of the Europa Conference League. Though they were beaten by West Ham in the showpiece event in Prague, it capped off a stunning campaign for Amrabat.

Ten Hag certainly believes he needs the 26-year-old in his squad as he continues to overhaul United. The Dutchman oversaw a 3-2 defeat to Borussia Dortmund in his side's final game of their United States tour, which left him demanding standards be raised.

“We have to get back to standards with the team and get back into the patterns for what is needed to get a good league start. We have two games at the weekend and then we have still more than a week to prepare for the first game of the season," he said.

“First hour [was] good, well-performing, playing as a team, lot of dynamic, good pressing, so it was really enjoyable to see. That is what I wanted to say to the team at half-time and then all of a sudden they gave two goals away and they really were giveaways.

"So that was already annoying but the last half an hour was bad, was a poor performance. Didn’t follow the rules at all, not in pressing, not in building up and not in attacking, so there were 11 individuals finally on the pitch and that wasn’t good at all.”
