Liverpool's midfield continues to go through the biggest reshuffle of Jurgen Klopp's tenure.

The exit of Jordan Henderson, the club's captain in recent seasons, was confirmed this week as he took up a lucrative offer in Saudi Arabia. Some of his colleagues could still follow with several other players being allowed to leave when their contracts expires.

Liverpool have spent close to £100m to bolster their ranks in the form of Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai with more arrivals still likely such has been the turnover of players. Negotiations remain ongoing for targets as the Reds look to recover from a below par season.

Here's the latest from Anfield.

Henderson sought exit advice

Henderson had two private phone calls with Liverpool owner John Henry before his lucrative move to Saudi Arabia was made official.

The former Reds captain completed a switch to Al-Ettifaq earlier this week. He has penned a three-year deal in the Gulf State and is set to earn around £700k per week.

Henderson’s move brings to an end a hugely successful 12-year spell on Merseyside. In that time, he has helped the Reds to a sixth European crown, their first-ever Premier League title and a whole host of other trophies. The decision to leave was likely an emotional one for the former Sunderland midfielder but it appears that he sought advice from those at the club before leaving.

Reds handed Lavia warning

Liverpool and Chelsea have been warned that Romeo Lavia will not be available on the cheap after the Blues launched a bid to buy the midfielder.

Lavia is being eyed by both clubs as they look to upgrade their midfield options after he impressed with Southampton last season. The Saints' relegation from the Premier League has led to the vultures circling around St Mary's Stadium.

So far, the Championship side have only sold Mislav Orsic, though more exits are likely to be on the way. Lavia and James Ward-Prowse appear to be the most likely candidates to depart but sporting director Jason Wilcox has warned interested parties that they will have to pay up.

Fabinho closes on exit

Fabinho has not been named on Liverpool's touring squad as they jet off to Singapore to continue their pre-season preparations.

The Brazilian is set to follow Henderson to Saudi Arabia as he looks to finalise a move to Al-Ittihad. Fabinho, who remained a regular at Anfield last term, was omitted from the team that went to Germany for a pre-season training camp after a £40m bid was submitted.

Discussions are ongoing with the Saudi Pro League outfit and, as a result, Liverpool have chosen to continue without the former Monaco man. Klopp is set to field a new look midfield once the season begins with a host of major names leaving and replacements now being sought.
