We all try not to get bogged down by physical appearance as it's what inside that counts - but there's no denying that feeling confident on the outside helps us feel good inside. Our hair plays a big part in this, as a bad hair cut can make us feel awful, and thinning locks can be a cause for concern.

One young woman has opened up about her confidence journey after suffering terribly from low self-esteem due to her naturally high hairline. Tiegan Handsley, 25, felt uncomfortable with her larger forehead all her life and had tried various hairstyles to try and hide it, but she wasn't happy with the results - so she decided to spend a whopping £5,300 for a hair transplant. She says the procedure changed her life.

Tiegan, from Doncaster, has gone viral after sharing the results a year on, as her video has been watched by almost 10 million people. In the clip she can be seen in a series of photos, showing off the growth of her new hair. She said: "The impact it's had on my life in the last year is just out of this world - it sometimes leaves me speechless. I naturally had a high hairline, especially at the corners, and I was so insecure about it so I had a fringe for all my life.

"I felt so self-conscious. I used to think everyone was looking at me and judging me as mine wasn't a normal hairstyle - it was like that to hide my forehead. It stopped me from going swimming, going down slides on holiday, which I absolutely love, and I just never wanted to get my hair wet.

"I've been with my partner, Nathan, for eight years and I never let him see my forehead until the start of the hair transplant journey. The list is endless on how much it impacted my life, so I felt confident I'd have to have surgery."

She admitted that it "sounds like a cliché" when she says it's changed her life, but says she feels more "confident" in herself now - and it's been a year since she had the procedure in July 2022. In total, she underwent 2,655 individual hair grafts and admitted she was "nervous" beforehand.

"People do describe it as gruesome, but I don't blame them because that was my initial thought", she shared. "I had a bit of swelling on my temples but not half as bad as others I have seen in the past. Once the first two weeks passed and the scabs started falling off it started looking so much better. To see the new hairs grow was actually so nerve-wracking, you sort of doubt everything as they come through one by one. It's so important to be patient."

In the video of her transformation, people praised her and said how amazing her hair looks. One wrote: "Can we just talk about how happy she looks within herself afterward?" Another said: "Whoever did that, did an a-star job, best transplant I've seen on here." Someone else gushed: "Slayyyyyyyyyyyy looks so good."
