Man Utd deadline for completing Hojlund transfer as PSG launch opening offer
Manchester United are confident they can agree a fee for Rasmus Hojlund and sign him for the start of the new season.
United have opened talks with Atalanta over Denmark striker Hojlund, whom the Serie A side value at £80million. In their discussions with Atalanta, United have made it clear they are way apart in terms of their valuation of the 20-year-old forward, who is unproven at the highest level.
United value Hojlund – who scored 10 goals in 34 appearances for Atalanta last season – between £50m and £60m and have made it clear they will not pay any more. Officials from United have ongoing dialogue with their Atalanta counterparts over Hojlund and believe a compromise fee can be agreed that will suit both parties.
United have a good working relationship with Atalanta, after signing winger Amad Diallo from them in 2021, and believe they can land Hojlund to boost Erik ten Hag 's attack.
Ten Hag wants his new striker in time for United's Premier League opener against Wolves on August 14, although there is an acceptance Hojlund may take time to adjust to the English game.

United accept Hojlund is a “rough diamond” but believe Ten Hag and his coaching staff can help turn him into a world-class striker if they can agree a deal with Atalanta.
The need for a striker was underlined in United's 2-0 defeat to Real Madrid in which they failed to pose a genuine threat to the Spanish giants, who won with goals from Jude Bellingham and Joselu. Ten Hag acknowledged the need for a striker and said: “We never talk about players under contract with another club, but we have our targets.
“We are [working] 24/7, we are busy with it, to try to get the right player to sign a contract with us. It's always difficult to see, it's like looking in the. [he made a crystal ball motion with his hands], but we are doing a lot in the club, all the power to get this done.”
Despite underlining his intent to sign a striker, Ten Hag could face some frustration in their pursuit of Hojlund. French giants Paris Saint-Germain have also entered the race for his services.
Reports in France claim that they have lodged an offer in an effort to sign the striker. Atalanta are also apparently keen to sell sooner rather than later as they attmept to find a replacement.
The Serie A side have been linked with Almeria's El Bilal Toure as a potential successor.
