Mayonnaise sold at budget supermarket chain Lidl has been recalled over fears it could be contaminated with Listeria.

The product that has been pulled from shelves is Potts’ Truffle Mayonnaise in 230g size.

Only stock with the best before date of July 2024 and batch code 18823 are affected by the recall.

If you have bought the above product, you are advised not to eat it - instead, return it to your nearest Lidl for a full refund.

Symptoms of Listeria poisoning include a high temperature, aches and pains, chills, feeling or being sick and diarrhoea.

A recall notice on the Lidl website reads: "Our supplier, Potts Partnership Ltd is recalling the above-mentioned product due to potential contamination of product with listeria monocytogenes."

The notice continues: "Listeria monocytogenes can trigger severe gastrointestinal conditions and symptoms similar to the flu. If you have bought the above product we advise you not to eat it.

"Customers are asked to return this product to the nearest store where a full refund will be given. We apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your cooperation."

You should also notice recall notices in stores if they've pulled a product from shelves.

Lidl recently recalled bars of Fin Carré Milk Chocolate with Hazelnuts in 100g size as it may contain pieces of plastic.

Products with the best before date of December 19, 2023, and lot number L3083A112 are affected by this recall.

Meanwhile, Asda recently pulled OMV! Mac 'N' No Cheese from shelves because it may contain milk, which is not mentioned on the label.

It means this product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents.

The affected product comes in a 400g size with the use by dates of: June 1, 2023, June 2, 2023 and June 3, 2023.

Anyone who bought the product and has an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents is warned to not eat it and instead return it to the store.
