Liverpool were always planning to overhaul their midfield in the summer transfer window, but interest in Jordan Henderson and Fabinho from Saudi Arabia has thrown a spanner in the works.

Jurgen Klopp now faces the prospect of losing two of his regular engine room stalwarts, although he insisted that nothing concrete has been agreed in terms of either of them leaving.

With plenty of time until the transfer window shuts, all eyes will be on the red half of Merseyside to see what transpires in the coming weeks.

Here, Mirror Football rounds up all the latest transfer talk from in and around Anfield...

Klopp gets Amrabat boost

Fiorentina general manager Joe Barone has scotched reports claiming that Manchester United have made the first move for La Viola's sought-after midfielder, Sofyan Amrabat.

Amrabat, 26, caught the eye with a string of impressive performances for Morocco during the 2022 World Cup and has been heavily linked with a lucrative switch to the Premier League ever since.

Reported interest failed to materialise into anything concrete back in January but clubs, including Liverpool, are once again taking stock of Amrabat's situation.

However, reports that Manchester United have lodged an official bid for Amrabat's services are wide of the mark.

Barcelona U-turn on Thiago

Barcelona are no longer interested in pursuing a deal that would bring Thiago Alcantara back to the Nou Camp.

That's according to AS, who claim that Barca boss Xavi Hernandez has reservations about following up on his initial interest in Thiago, who played alongside him before the Spaniard hung up his boots.

The report claims that Thiago's chequered injury history means a move is not deemed possible by the Spanish champions, who are once again on the market for reinforcements.

Liverpool ruin Man City plans

RB Leipzig have revealed that they could decide against selling Josko Gvardiol to Manchester City this summer - as they've already banked a tidy sum from the Reds.

Liverpool raided the Bundesliga outfit earlier in the transfer window to seal a deal for Dominik Szoboszlai. The deal for the highly-rated midfielder saw Leipzig bank a cool £60m from the Anfield outfit.

Gvardiol is widely regarded as one of the most promising defenders in the world and has caught the attention of a host of Europe's elite.

Manchester City have firmed up their interest by opening negotiations in a bid to strike a deal, however, Leipzig sporting director Max Eberl has insisted to Sky Germany that not only do the club not want to sell Gvardiol, they are under no financial pressure to do so after selling Szoboszlai to the Premier League champions' rivals.
