Mahomes agrees with Michael Vick on "best coach" in NFL after Belichick snub
Kansas City Chiefs star Patrick Mahomes has labelled Andy Reid as one of the best coaches in NFL history - after Michael Vick snubbed Bill Belichick to claim he might be the greatest of all time.
Reid has been head coach of the Chiefs since taking over from Romeo Crennel in 2013. The 65-year-old had previously spent 13 years as head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles before moving to Missouri.
During his illustrious coaching career, Reid has won two Super Bowls which have both come with the Chiefs. The most recent triumph came in Super Bowl LVII when the Chiefs beat the Eagles in February of this year.
Mahomes has been the starting quarterback for the Chiefs since being drafted in 2017, and has been a key figure in the Chiefs winning two Super Bowl rings during Reid’s tenure as head coach. And now the No.10 pick has explained why he thinks Reid is one of the best coaches in NFL history.
“He’s meant the world to me. He’s just the best,” Mahomes told .
Joe Burrow backs Patrick Mahomes after Kansas City Chiefs reach Super Bowl“He’s the best coach, obviously, one of the best coaches of all time, but he’s just one of the best people of all time.
“He’s learned how to get the most out of me every day. He doesn’t let me be satisfied with where I’m at. He teaches me a ton.
“Not only the quarterback position, but how to be a leader and how to be a great dad and how to be a great husband. He lets me be who I am every single day.
“I think if I’d have went to some other places, I would’ve had to learn how to play the quarterback position a different way, and he just lets me play the quarterback position the way that I want to play it. I think that’s what’s made me such a different type of quarterback in this league.”
Mahomes’ comments come just days after former quarterback Michael Vick made the same claim about Reid. Vick was the Eagles QB during Reid’s spell in charge, and explained why he would put the Chiefs head coach as the best.
"He might be the greatest coach of all time,” said Vick, speaking on Tyreek Hill's It Needed To Be Said podcast. “You don’t have to win (as many) championships to be considered.
“After Andy won the Super Bowl, he only got two championships, but he went to like four or five NFC Championship games."
Vick added: "You know, I understand Belichick and Brady and that whole dynamic. But coach Reid did it in Philly, and then he’s doing it in KC."
