Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has held talks with the CEO of Bayern Munich as speculation over the future of Harry Kane intensifies.

The club's record goalscorer reported for pre-season training as normal this week, with new manager Ange Postecoglou admitting he would be holding face-to-face talks with Kane over his future. But despite having a £60 million bid for the 29-year-old rejected, the Bundesliga champions are pursuing with their chase.

Having failed to adequately replace Robert Lewandowski after his departure 12 months ago, Bayern bosses have charged manager Thomas Tuchel with signing a new striker. And the ex-Chelsea man has made Kane his prime target, with then England captain now in the final 12 months of his current deal.

And in a new twist, are reporting that Jan-Christian Dreesen met Levy for a breakfast meeting in London on Thursday. No formal offer for the star was seemingly made though, and it is claimed the two figures did not settle on an agreed fee.

As it stands, Kane will board the plane with his Spurs teammates on Friday for their pre-season Asia-Pacific tour. Whilst down under, the north London side will take on West Ham in Perth, before playing Leicester in Thailand, and then Singapore outfit Lion City Sailors.

The player's desire to win major trophies makes Bayern an attractive proposition, given their domestic dominance this past decade, that has included two Champions League wins. But Levy is still reportedly hopeful that Kane, who is bearing down on Alan Shearer's Premier League record of 260 league goals, will sign a new deal.

As it stands, he could leave the club on a free transfer at the end of the 2023/24 campaign. But in a bid to tie him down for the remainder of his career, he is set to be offered a new contract worth £400,000 per week.

It has also been reported that such discussions would give him the opportunity to begin a coaching career with Spurs once he hangs up his boots. But with the club having not qualified for European football, fans will fear that the prospect of another trophy-less season will outweigh any financial lure.

Kane had previously been heavily linked with moves to Manchester United and Real Madrid. However, interest from both clubs has cooled, with United turning their attention to other targets and Real focusing their efforts on PSG's Kylian Mbappe.
