A flight attendant has revealed why you should always pack a plastic shower cap in your suitcase when going abroad.

Cabin crew members have to master the art of packing as they spend their lives travelling from one destination to another - so when they share their travel tips, we listen.

Now, flight attendant Laren Loois has shared a must-remember suitcase hack before your next holiday, the Express reports.

The airline worker explained on TikTok that she always packs a plastic shower cap when she travels.

That's because after a holiday, most of people will chuck their dirty items into a laundry bag, stick it in the suitcase and deal with it when they get home. Unfortunately, they often forget to clean their shoes, specifically the soles.

That means that if you're just putting everything into your bag haphazardly, you could risk transferring all the dirt and grime from the soles of your shoes to all of your other belongings.

According to the cabin crew member, plastic shower caps as the answer.

In a TikTok video entitled Hotel Hacks from a flight attendant (Part 37), she explained: "The shower cap can be used as shoe covers to keep your soles from getting dirt on other items in your bag."

Airline workers know a thing or two about how to pack a suitcase flawlessly, and it's not the first time one staff member has revealed their best packing tips and hacks.

Members of Emirates cabin crew previously shared some of their top tips, including how to maximise your use of the space.

One advised: "Try tightly rolling your clothes. Not only does this mean they'll be more compact and leave you with extra space, but this method can also help to cut down on creases."

Another added that you should opt for a few basic items, that you can re-use throughout the trip. They explained: "Opt for clothes that are flexible enough to cover a variety of situations, such as jeans or plain T-shirts. This is a simple yet effective way to reduce the amount you're taking, and leave yourself plenty of room for all of the other essentials you need. (Or even for a holiday souvenir or two!)."

When packing, it's also worth keeping in mind what you plan to do with your valuables when you arrive at your hotel or destination. Experts at Skyscanner have previously suggested hiding valuables in "empty bottles", "empty suntan lotion containers" and "empty lip balm".

They explained: "To avoid the worst-case scenario of being robbed, it’s best to be inconspicuous. Don’t flash cash or expensive jewellery. If you’re worried about valuable stuff in your hotel room, hide it in an empty suntan lotion container. You could also use empty lip balm containers to hide rolled-up notes. You could also consider getting travel insurance."
