TV star Jonnie Irwin has shared an update from his bath - as he tried to scrub himself clean after spending an afternoon washing out bins.

The 49-year-old television star promised his family that he wouldn’t leave his bathtub until the ‘stink’ of bins had been washed off him.

Jonnie - who revealed last year that he had been given a terminal lung cancer diagnosis - delighted fans with his upbeat and amusing update.

However, there may have been something of an insult being added to his bin juice injury as he revealed he was watching the cricket at the time.

Taking to Instagram on Sunday, Jonnie explained: “I went on a jet washing marathon earlier and got stuck in the washing the inside of my wheelie bins.

“I’m now sat stink and my back is killing me so I thought I’ll have a bath and watch the cricket with your volume down and test match.

“I’ve made a promise to all stay in the bath.

“How long is England remain in bat Sound on sky tuned down and @tms turned up.”

He added: “The water had now gone rather cold but I’ll be good for my word” - adding hashtags relating to the cricket and bin juice.

A snap showed the star with his feet up on the bath and a screen showing the controversial England v Australia match - which ended with England losing the second test amid accusations of cheating.

Fans reacted to Jonnie’s post, with some sharing their own power hose mishaps, and others commiserating over the England cricket result.

One follower shared: "I am banned from using the power washer after it took off with me and the whole front of the house got sprayed with mud."

Another discussed the shambolic cricket result, writing: "Shame they didn’t win for you! Think it’s going to be 5-0 defeat. Life isn’t about always winning, it’s all about enjoying yourself while you have the chance."

While another, taking note of Jonnie's photo, commented: "Enjoy the cricket, nice legs by the way."

Jonnie recently opened up to the Mirror about his cancer diagnosis and how he is dealing with his heartbreaking condition.

Speaking at the TRIC Awards last month, he remained upbeat as he said: "Today is a good day. Yesterday I peeled myself out of bed and munched painkillers but so far so good today.

"I take every day as a gift and as it comes."

Jonnie shared his heartbreaking diagnosis last November after receiving the devastating news himself in 2020, saying during an interview on Good Morning Britain: “I wanted to keep it a secret because professionally, I didn't want to lose work. Socially and emotionally too, people treat you differently and people start making decisions for you."

He added: "If I withheld that information, I found I could live a normal life right up until a year ago."
