A Place In The Sun's Jonnie Irwin denies 'starving himself' in health update

A Place In The Sun 's Jonnie Irwin has denied that he is "starving himself" after he issued an update on his health following a new diet plan.

The TV star revealed last year that he had been diagnosed with terminal cancer after his lung cancer spread to his brain.

He has since been keeping his fans updated with how he has been getting on, which has included trying a new diet.

The 49 year old was first diagnosed back in 2020 but only told the public in November 2023, during which time he revealed that it had spread to his brain and he had been given just months to live.

Jonnie recently met the author of How To Starve cancer and took to Instagram to tell his followers he is undergoing a tailor made diet in an attempt to starve the tumour.

"I'm trying to starve a tumour by blocking its feeding pathways, by taking 'off label' drugs as well as a tailored diet -losing weight is deffo not the aim!

She has now been in remission since 2004.

Back in January, Jonnie shared a picture of himself with Jane and said: "Was a privilege to meet my mentor Jane Mclelland today, author of @how_to_starve_cancer.

"Her story is truly an inspiration and in my opinion a must read for anyone affected by cancer. It's inspired me to change my lifestyle and importantly given me hope in an otherwise hopeless situation. Don't get me wrong- it's bloody hard but l'm on board!"

Jonnie was diagnosed with cancer while filming Channel 4's A Place In The Sun in Italy in 2020.

He was driving when he found his vision had become blurred and doctors at home discovered he was terminally ill.
