Flight attendant says a bag of crisps could help you avoid getting robbed abroad
A flight attendant has explained how they use empty bags of crisps to avoid getting robbed on holiday.
Many holidaymakers leave valuables in the hotel room when on a break rather than lugging them around an unfamiliar city or leaving them on the beach.
However, if you leave your valuables lying around they could go missing - but cabin crew member Miguel Muñoz has revealed there are clever ways to use innocuous items as hiding places, reports the Express.
He revealed that he uses items he finds around his hotel room to stash his goods, such as an "empty bag of crisps or tin foil".
Miguel suggested that families travelling with kids can use nappies to hide valuable items, as thieves are unlikely to pick through a dirty diaper in the search of something valuable.

"I suggest not doing this when your room is about to be cleaned. This could also work well when walking around," they said.
Holidaymakers can also use secret pockets inside clothing or place money in the bible, which is usually kept in a drawer by the bed.
The wardrobe, under the bed and in the fridge are "some of the worst places to store things," according to the experts, as these tend to be where experienced burglars will look first.
Hiding valuables in the suitcase, or placing them under the mattress or in the laundry basket should also be avoided.

All of this being said, don't worry too much about your hotel room being ransacked. If you are in a good establishment, security down in reception and the locks on your room door should be enough to ensure your items are kept safe and secure.
If you are particularly worried about your possessions, then keeping them with you in a handy bum bag, or taking out a comprehensive travel insurance policy, may be a good idea.
Experts at travel platform Skyscanner have previously suggested hiding valuables in "empty bottles", "empty suntan lotion containers" and "empty lip balm".
They explained: "To avoid the worst-case scenario of being robbed, it’s best to be inconspicuous. Don’t flash cash or expensive jewellery.

"If you’re worried about valuable stuff in your hotel room, hide it in an empty suntan lotion container.
"You could also use empty lip balm containers to hide rolled-up notes. You could also consider getting travel insurance."
