Manchester United want to renegotiate terms with Juventus star Adrien Rabiot as they attempt to sign him at the second time of asking.

The Frenchman has been identified as a cheaper alternative to Chelsea star Mason Mount, with the Red Devils having seen three separate bids turned down for the midfielder. United’s offer for the England star remains on the table but a deal looks very difficult to pull-off at this stage.

Boss Erik ten Hag remains keen to add to his midfield options this summer and is eyeing a swoop for Rabiot. He is available on a free transfer with his contract with Italian giants Juventus set to expire in a matter of days.

It is the second time that the Red Devils have been linked with a move for Rabiot. He was identified as a potential recruit last summer as United aimed to add to his midfield options.

Negotiations got underway but an agreement could not be found with Rabiot on personal terms. According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the Red Devils will engage in fresh talks with Rabiot regarding wages and agent commission in a renewed attempt to get a deal over the line.

They will certainly hope they can put a deal together to tempt the midfielder to make a move to Old Trafford. Juventus are still keen to keep him beyond the expiry of his contract, with Max Allegri reportedly getting in touch with him in an effort to encourage him to stay.

Rabiot has already admitted that his future remains up in the air with his contract expiring later this week. Speaking back in March, he said: “At the moment, there’s no news, but we’ll certainly talk soon.

“Because in about two months the season will be over and we’ll try to discuss it, but I’m calm. There is the possibility of leaving but also the possibility of signing another contract with Juve for all the reasons I explained earlier.”

Rabiot, 28, enjoyed an impressive personal campaign for Juventus last time despite a disappointing season for the Italian giants. He scored 11 goals and notched six assists in all competitions for Juve.

He has been with the club since 2019 after making another free transfer from French giants and boyhood club Paris Saint-Germain. The midfielder won six league titles with his former club, whilst he has only managed to add a further title to his collection during his four seasons in Turin so far.

Rabiot has also managed to make 36 appearances for the French national team throughout his career but was not granted a place in the squad for their 2018 World Cup victory in Russia.
