Nowadays, many of us will meet our significant others via dating apps, no matter how much we may hold out for the rom-com style meet-cute. Interestingly, when you do meet that special someone, this very same technology could well help you both settle on a baby name, should you eventually make the decision to start a family.

Much like Tinder, baby name app Kinder presents you with a number of options, which you can choose to swipe right or left on - yes or no for those who've managed to dodge dating apps.

With Kinder, however, you're presented with a number of baby names rather than dates to choose from. When you and your partner swipe right on the same one, you get a match, helping you compile a list of potential names with relative ease.

The fun yet very useful app launched back in 2018, and has since clocked up a number of rave Apple Store reviews, scoring an average rating of 4.5 out of a possible 5.

One happy user commented: "This app is super simple which is fun. It's run by one person, so it makes sense it doesn't have tons of bells and whistles.

"It would be even more convenient if you could click on a name to look up its meaning and pronunciation. I would probably pay for that!"

Another wrote: "After being undecided and deciding between three names for many months with no conclusion.. I downloaded this app the month my daughter was due. I found a whole new name that I love and has a good meaning - Eliana. That's her name now. Thank you very much. Very happy I stumbled upon this."

As per the app description, there are more than 18,000 names in its library, pulled from more than 80 languages. You may well end up falling for a lesser-known name you've never before heard crop up in conversation or parenting forums.

Kinder is available to download on both the App Store and Google Play.
