BBC Breakfast has new presenter shake up as Carol Kirkwood vanishes from show
BBC Breakfast has had another presenter shake up as viewers were stunned to see Carol Kirkwood replaced.
Weather presenter Carol, who has been a part of the BBC News team for 25 years, was missing from the popular breakfast show on Friday morning, and fans were baffled by her unexpected absence.
The 63-year-old meteorologist was nowhere to be seen on BBC Breakfast, and the show was missing her usual bright and chirpy weather reports early in the morning.
Hosts Naga Munchetty and Charlie Stayt gave no explanation for Carol’s absence, and she was instead replaced by Matt Taylor, who has stepped in to cover the beloved resident weather expert before.
Earlier this year, Matt presented the weather after viewers became concerned about the awkward relationship between Carol and Naga, after the BBC Breakfast made a comment about the weather presenter’s dress.
Gales, snow and rain to batter country today with 80mph wind gustsThe former Strictly Come Dancing star was also hit with a technical blunder during BBC Breakfast recently, leaving viewers baffled as she attempted to give a forecast about a different country.
As she teased the weather conditions during a brief segment with Jon Kay and Nina Warhurst, Carol was unaware she was giving details of the upcoming weather in the UK while standing in front of a map of Spain.
“Good morning it's a cold and frosty start to the day for many of us today. But a fair bit of sunshine away from the north and west where we've got thicker cloud and some rain,” she explained, not noticing the wrong country behind her.
“That rain moving a little further southwards and eastwards tomorrow and then the next day but as we head into the Bank Holiday weekend for many it will be settled until when more of us will see some rain,” Carol continued.
Many viewers took to Twitter to voice their confusion, as they poked fun at Carol.
“Carol discussing the UK weather with a graphic of Spain behind her ???," said one, as another added: “Carol, going to Spain for your holidays? Weather map boo-boo!”
