Puzzle lovers are being asked to spot the odd snail out in just 10 seconds flat, and only those with the sharpest of minds will be able to manage it.

The puzzle in question shows a sea of what at first glance appears to be completely identical snails, but a closer look will reveal that one isn't like the rest.

Set a timer for yourself and see if you can clock the odd snail out. If you manage it in under 10 seconds, then you're a real puzzling pro, but don't worry if it takes you a little longer.

Ready? Cast your eye over the following picture:

Although the snails may all look very alike, with these sorts of optical illusions, it's the small and barely noticeable details you've got to look out for.

With this puzzle, which was originally shared by Freshers Live, try looking at the colour tones of each of the snails to see if there are any barely discernable variations.

If you're struggling, then try dividing the picture into separate parts in your mind, scanning each piece of it in turn. Don't be too hard on yourself if it takes you a bit longer than 10 seconds to solve. Like many worthwhile things in life, becoming a top puzzler takes a fair bit of time and practice.

If you're ready to check out the answer, then carry on reading. If you need slightly more time, then simply scroll back and give it another go.

Check out the same picture below, this time with the odd snail out handily circled:

As you can see, the odd snail out looks nearly exactly the same as the rest, except that its face has a greenish shade it it.

You may well have missed this detail upon your first glance, given the mind's ability to fill in gaps, but it feels so obvious once you clock it.

Well done if you spotted it, and if you didn't then make sure to sharpen your abilities through regular puzzle solving. Remember, practice makes perfect.
